This question has really been bothering me lately....

Why would any entity with a fully functional mind, sufficient knowledge, and stable mental health ever voluntarily reject Christ and a chance at eternal glory? It makes zero logical sense! I would even go so far as to suggest that Lucifer and the demons are basically haywire. They aren't going to be too proud of themselves when they end up in Hell so the pride that comes with rebellion is absolutely not worth the trouble. They either know with totally clarity that God is immensely powerful and their chances of winning are exactly zero or they are only smarter than humans by a slight degree.

I speak to a lot of atheists and other unbelievers. A few of them are very rational and open to discussing the gospel with me but some of them are just nuts. They get very defensive and panic whenever they can't properly respond to my reasoning. Secure and strong people do not panic like this. Weak and confused people panic like this! I can't even count the number of times when they go off the deep end and start ranting about "Republicans" or "the crusades" or something else that has absolutely nothing to do with the philosophical argument that I'm presenting to them.

These are NOT intelligent people. They embarrass themselves in front of crowds of their peers.

....but there is a very good chance that these weak humans will be judged in Hell for all eternity.

I don't understand this. Why doesn't God just make them smarter so that they can be saved by Christ's blood? Did he specifically create their damaged minds in order to have a target for his wrath? Is this to set some sort of example?

What is going on here?!

You don't have to be smart or educated or even intelligent to respond to love. Christ died for all, even the people you (or I) may think are stupid (translate perhaps 'undeserving' in our view). None of us deserve the grace and forgiveness of God. Yes, God loves stupid people, including me. I am forever grateful that he does not hate them.

I think we have to be careful of using the word "Stupid"., Otherwise we are the ones who will look it. Worldly wisdom may very well reject the Christian Gospel such as "love your enemies" and "blessed are the meek." In a secular world these may look like weaknesses we would do well to avoid.
I don't think choosing to love God and follow Jesus is necessarily logical. Its a leap of faith. Sometimes the so called "stupid " people are the very ones God uses to build his Kingdom. Because they are humble and are more willing to trust a God they cant see.

It's called being brainwashed. There are 7 billion people on this planet. Only a minority of them worship the Judeo-Christian God (and I do not include Muslims, because while they may have been a part of the story, Allah is NOT Jehovah). I grew up atheist and no one told me about God. Thankfully He reached out to me and I accepted, but years before, I mocked God and said He wasn't real.

It's easy to get set in your own ways. It's easy to doubt and not accept something you haven't seen personally.

You can be assured that I am not using the word lightly. They are not humble and they are not meek. When they destroy their own lives and the lives around them they seek out someone else to blame.

It sounds incredibly mean but my choice of words is absolutely nothing compared to the punishment that God apparently HAS to reign down on them....or does he?

One thing that really bothers me is what happens to those children and young people who are raised by radical communists and rabid atheists and ISIS soldiers when they die before getting the chance to be led to Christ? There is no clear biblical answer as far as I know

I'm not so sure about that. How many people in the USA realize how blessed they are? Political discussions tend to consist of constant whining about how absolutely everything people want is a "human right" up to and including free Wi-Fi service (I kid you not).

It takes imagination and reason for people to realize what has been done on their behalf. Foolishness says "I can do everything myself I don't need anyone!" When other people show them love they just take it as a given and move on with more of the same self-acknowledgment.

It is not at all uncommon to hear atheists say "people can be good to each other without God" because they simply cannot imagine or understand they aren't even able to utter that sentence unless their lungs/vocal cords are intact and filled with air.

Evil cannot happen unless truth is missing and imagination is limited.

I have seen it work the same way in either direction. Either side can be guilty of mudslinging and name calling and emotional reactions. As Christians, giving them the same attitude back again is not helpful.

I also believe we should educate ourselves in matters of math and science as much as we can. I have actually heard Christians emphatically insist on some totally nonsensical idea that modern math or science has already proven to be false, and won't give up on it no matter what the evidence. Example, the notion that because God took a rib from Adam to make Eve, that means all men everywhere are minus one rib. I've heard people swear up and down that this is true, without ever having bothered to look at x-rays or anything like that.

And the woman who insisted that "spare the rod and spoil the child" is an exact word-for-word quote from the Bible (it isn't) wouldn't let me speak long enough to state what Proverbs 13:24 actually says. She cut me off and loudly overtalked me, stating authoritatively, "I'm not gonna argue with you, lady, 'cause I KNOW!" Later it turned out she couldn't read. How did she "know" what it said, then? Because someone told her, and she didn't check it out for herself?

Eventually they turn purple with rage and start mispronouncing (if they're speaking) or misspelling (if they're typing) basic fourth-grade-level words while loudly proclaiming that anyone who doesn't share their views is going to burn in hell forever. Which makes me want to ask, who's calling who stupid?

I'm guessing you came across some very loud-mouthed ignorant atheists who were very rude and made fun of you as a Christian. As a Christian we have to take it in our stride and just pray for them. Not call them names.

satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don't understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.

John 3:20
All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.

Jeremiah 9:6
They do one act of violence after another, and one deceitful thing after another. They refuse to pay attention to me," says the LORD.

There are so many other scriptures answering your question.
Let me ask you this.......
If God forced people to love Him and Believe Him, what Love did He get?

And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” ~ Mark 4:9

Have you ever been in a conversation with someone who is listening but they really can't follow anything that you are saying?

I tend to be very hopeful when they ask questions and ask for clarification. Most do not do that. They jump to conclusions and then completely shut their minds down. It is very disturbing.

"Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?"

.................

17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:

18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.

..............

29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him." (John 4:9-29)

I often wonder how this would have ended if it was an ordinary person like you or me trying to explain to this Samarian woman what "living water" is? I suspect that she would have became very confused and then totally rejected this crazy "living water scam". She may or may not have brought him physical water as a gesture.

An absence of knowledge is extremely dangerous. Jesus had to reveal a deep secret that she had all those other husbands in order to get her to believe. We mere mortals do not have this god-level intellect. We are only capable of using simple reason...and reason only works on reasonable people :(

That is a restatement of the obvious though isn't it? You essentially just said "They don't believe because they don't understand". It is redundant. How is the human mind so weak that it can be blinded by Satan? How is the human soul so fragile and human imagination so limited that it cannot easily see the consequences of sin?

I think it would be appropriate to insert some definitions.

To me, "ignorant" means "I don't know the facts, and I need education." We all fall into that category at times. "Stupid" means "I don't know the facts, but I think I do, and I'm not going to listen to anybody trying to correct me." I guess a lot of us fall into that occasionally too.

But does God love us? Yes. Does God love that person who is loudly and stubbornly rejecting Him? Yes. Does it hurt Him? I believe so. Why didn't He just make them smarter? I think He did, and they rejected that too.

Your original question was "Does God hate stupid people?"
Teshuvah, however unreasonable, or disbelieving, or dumb we might be, the scriptures make clear that God loved "the world," that he wishes that all should be saved, plus plus plus... I find nothing in the scriptures that intimates that God hates stupid people, no matter how you want to define stupid. God is love, by nature. Love does not hate people. I would say though that God can and does hate evil and where that involves being foolish or turning from wisdom, it is that act or that behaviour that he does not like - he continues to love the person.

I'm guessing you came across some very loud-mouthed ignorant atheists who were very rude and made fun of you as a Christian. As a Christian we have take it in our stride and just pray for them. Not call them names.

Is there a prayer for them? God does not say he will convert everyone. I won't ever walk away from these encounters without feeling that I have just witnessed a terrible tragedy that never needed to happen.

Those who are totally convinced that they are an unassailable well of knowledge tend to never change their views. Even when corrected by countless others their opinion remains unchanged. Even in the face of immediate physical disaster and obvious impending danger it is somewhat frequently the case that their opinion remains unchanged.

I have seen this more often than I would care to count.

Of course name calling doesn't help. If you are being truly honest with yourself then you have to admit that on the outside you are trying to be calm but inside your head you are saying "what are they doing? This is insane!"
