Another good example (also mentioned above) is the flood story itself. Go read the flood story in Genesis 7-9. It suddenly makes perfect sense! All the questions of where the water came from, or went to, etc go away when you think of the earth as flat, under a hard dome, which is itself under water (genesis 1:7).

-Papias

How high is that dome? Wouldn't the space shuttle or any of the many rockets that have been launched run into that dome if it were there? If not, then what is happening to all those rockets? Where did the space shuttle go for weeks at a time with astronauts on board before they landed again?

You know what else doesn't make sense about modern secular science's view of the stars? Any time you see an example photo (or a said to be real photo) of the Milky Way, you always see the sun sticking out larger than any of the other stars - many of which said to be bigger than the sun.

I call that a contradiction.

Any picture you're seeing of the Milky Way does not contain our sun. The Milky Way, and all other celestial objects, are only visible from the earth when the sun is on the other side of the earth. Otherwise, it would be daytime when the stars and the rest of the Milky Way are blotted out by the sun's light.

When you do your research of those versus, there are some that have to make you wonder if it really should be taken literally. ...

I'm going to stop you right there. That line of thinking is satanic. Straight up. I know that sounds bold to say but you have to remember, that very question is how the fall of man started. The first thing Satan said to Eve was "did God "REALLY" say"...

That is a dangerous question to ask.

Better example. Look at this photo said to be the entire Milky way. BILLIONS of stars said to be as big or bigger than our sun. Yet, there is our sun right smack in the middle looking like a giant monster compared to all the others.

Nobody ever questions this?????

Friend, that is not a photo of the Milky Way. That is an artist conception of what it might look like: Redirect Notice

Also, that bright spot in the center is not our sun. It is billions of stars that are close together in the center of the galaxy. If you were to get closer to it, you'd be able to resolve them as individual stars. You can see the Milky Way's center by looking up at the night sky in the Summer. It doesn't look anything like that picture because that picture is what it would look like from overhead. We are not located overhead. We are inside of it. But anyway, if you look at the Milky Way's center from your backyard with a telescope or binoculars, you can resolve it into many stars.

Um, did you read what I wrote towards the end of post #1168?

Even if the center is only a tight compact cluster of stars, a cluster that tight and bright should be easy to find. Can anyone tell me where or what time of the year I might find this cluster?

In the Summer, usually pretty much overhead. But if you're in or near a city, it won't be as easy (or possible) to see. If you go into a rural area, it will be easily seen. Here's a photo of what it looks like: https://images4.alphacoders.com/153/thumb-1920-153318.jpg

As much as I appreciate your note of caution, I am using scripture as the centerpiece of my exploration. Honestly, modern science's view of what we see in the sky just doesn't match scripture nearly at all.

But the denominations I was telling you about me exploring in the past used scripture as well. So does the devil, as he did when quoted scripture to Jesus while trying to tempt him. It has to be interpreted accurately with understanding.

It was a bubble. I know what a bubble looks like.

Ok, but the image looks pretty fuzzy to me to know that's what it was for sure.

But there are plenty of versus that you have to take as not being literal. For example, does God literally use the earth as His footstool? Hebrews 12:29 says that God is a consuming fire. That makes Him sound like a blast furnace! Jesus Christ is God, but He wasn't a fire that consumed people.
Would you tear your eye out as Jesus said to do if your eye causes you to stumble? Is Jesus literally living bread that comes down from Heaven? Are we literally supposed to eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus Christ? What needs to be understood here is that these are metaphors with a far deeper meaning than they appear on the surface.

That's because they are screen shots from a fuzzy NASA live stream. Blame them for being fuzzy. I have the video. If you want it, send me an email address to send it to. The forum won't let me load it.

Nah, that's ok. I just went to Youtube and found videos there making the same claim.

Could be a piece of debris that came off when the astronaut was working with the equipment.

But honestly, if this was just one part of an elaborate hoax, then what about the rest of it? How do you explain the space shuttle that got the astronauts there in the first place? Do you seriously believe they built a number of shuttles, put on a big launch display that sends it up into the sky while being filmed, and.....then what?

Instead of stopping you again (as I was tempted to do), I'll let your context stand.

But honestly, stop at your first paragraph. It IS....and is ONLY an artist conception. You are absolutely right. And I'd say the chances of it being what our sky/heavens above really look like are 10% at BEST!

NOBODY has been that far out including unmanned spacecraft (if such a thing really even exists).

In short. That picture may as well be in the fiction section of any library. Nobody can confirm that we are a tiny molecular do in a Galaxy that looks like that. It's a fairy tale.

That's why when examining scripture in the context of any topic of debate, you must do two things. 1. Enter the scripture prayerfully, seeking the Holy Spirit for Discernment. 2. "Test all things and hold fast to that which is true".

That said. You cannot find ONE verse in the Bible that mentions a spinning Earth. But you can find Verses that point to a moving sun and moon .

For me. That settles it.

The artist conception is based on what we observe of our own galaxy (the Milky Way) from the inside as well as other galaxies we see from the outside. Here is photo of an actual galaxy that is located just under the handle of the Big Dipper (as seen from earth). You can see it with your own telescope if you have one: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipe...a.jpg/1280px-M101_hires_STScI-PRC2006-10a.jpg

But before you're tempted to call this a faked image, keep in mind that images like this used to be taken by amateur astronomers in their own backyard using their own telescopes and cameras that used 35mm film before digital cameras even existed. I'm 46 years old, so I was around during those times.

What if you were able to hitch a ride on a space shuttle (or a Soyuz) and see for yourself? Would you be able to be convinced otherwise if you yourself was above the atmosphere looking down at earth seeing a globe beneath your feet rotating on its axis?

Of course I would. Especially given the fact that it's already what I have believed for over 40 years.
