Not saying you were scolded.....just usually said something like the word trinity is not in the Bible.
Or the word rapture is not in the Bible....
Or calling your leaders revereand or father.....
These words were always a part of doctrinal discussion...

Speak where the bible speaks
Be silent where the bible is silent......

Was maybe one of the number one quote among COC
Thus the verse in revelation

My father took me to a Church of Christ for a very short time when I was seven. He wasn't a Christian; I think he did it to impress his fellow officers. I also know their stance on baptism and disagree with that.

My faith in the Trinity came from the Bible as does the Nicene Creed.

The Nicene Creed
We believe in (Romans 10:8-10; 1John 4:15)
ONE God, (Deuteronomy 6:4, Ephesians 4:6)
the Father (Matthew 6:9)
Almighty, (Exodus 6:3)
Maker of Heaven and Earth, (Genesis 1:1)
and of all things visible and invisible. (Colossians 1:15-16)
And in ONE Lord Jesus Christ, (Acts 11:17)
the Son of God, (Mathew 14:33; 16:16)
the Only-Begotten, (John 1:18; 3:16)
Begotten of the Father before all ages. (John 1:2)
Light of Light; (Psalm 27:1; John 8:12; Matthew 17:2,5)
True God of True God; (John 17:1-5)
Begotten, not made; (John 1:18)
of one essence with the Father (John 10:30)
by whom all things were made; (Hebrews 1:1-2)
Who for us men and for our salvation (1Timothy 2:4-5)
came down from Heaven, (John 6:33,35)
and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, (Luke 1:35)
and became man. (John 1:14)
And was crucified for us (Mark 15:25; 1Cointhians 15:3)
under Pontius Pilate, (John 19:6)
and suffered, (Mark 8:31)
and was buried. (Luke 23:53; 1Corinthians 15:4)
And the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures. (Luke 24:1 1Corinthians 15:4)
And ascended into Heaven, (Luke 24:51; Acts 1:10)
and sits at the right hand of the Father. (Mark 16:19; Acts 7:55)
And He shall come again with glory (Matthew 24:27)
to judge the living and the dead; (Acts 10:42; 2Timothy 4:1)
whose Kingdom shall have no end. (2 Peter 1:11)
And in the Holy Spirit, (John 14:26)
the Lord, (Acts 5:3-4)
the Giver of Life, (Genesis 1:2)
Who proceeds from the Father; (John 15:26)
Who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; (Matthew 3:16-17)
Who spoke through the prophets. (1 Samuel 19:20 ; Ezekiel 11:5,13) In one, (Matthew 16: 18)
holy, (1 Peter 2:5,9)
catholic*, (Mark 16:15)
and apostolic Church. (Acts 2:42; Ephesians 2:19-22)
I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins**. (Ephesians 4:5; Acts 2:38)
I look for the resurrection of the dead, (John 11:24; 1Corinthians 15:12-49; Hebrews 6:2; Revelation 20:5)
and the life of the world to come. (Mark 10:29-30)
AMEN.

The title of this thread is absurd. I am probably considered a "cultist" by all of you, yet I use the same references you use as do all the other "cults". We all use Strong's Concordance and Lexicon, BDB, Thayer's Lexicon, Vine's, Easton's, etc. As for Harper's, Christians (non-cultists?) use it as well. I can understand the OP requesting pro-trinity reference articles, but to include a Bible dictionary as a "cult" reference is absurd.

I can't change the title, but the Holy Trinity is the true God and that reference book is not God inspired.

First, who reads Patheos? Second, why not just watch his debates with Catholics rather than read article written about him?
Patheos is a site provider, the author is Dave Armstrong who exposes White's polemics. He is not the champion he thinks he is.
I don't like watching boring videos.

Do you suppose God wants you to believe what He has revealed or would you say that those who believe in another god can also be saved?

Again Please give the Book, chapter, and verse that say's you must believe in the Trinity to be saved.
You can believe that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are one God and not believe in the Doctrine of the Trinity.

I don't use the word cult to indicate dislike. I use it to identify belief in a false god under the guise of Christianity.

Yes, I know people who say that if you believe any type of false teaching that you believe in a false god, like the false teaching of baptism of babies, or the Baptist god or the catholic god. You sound just like them.

The Nicene Creed is also not inspired. The Bible is the only inspired Word of God.

Back to the cult issue.......

Mormons believe in a different bible and had a different prophet joseph smith homclaimed to have separate word and vision from an angel than the Bible.......

Jehovahs witness believe strongly in their extra writings
And I believe they have the teaching that Jesus was lucifers brother and created like an angel.....
Also their leader Russell predicted Jesus return in 1914... Obviously didtnt happen.....

Now using the word cult for these 2 groups....ok
Or at least false teachers.........false groups

These 2 groups were my foundation...
Church of Christ....35 years
messianic Jewish christian....20 years..still attend 1 a month

Both groups belive completely that Jesus was the son of God with full authority from His Father...
And will reign eternally...as King of Kings..Lord of Lords
But they refuse to use the word Trinity because it is not used in the Bible.......

Also claiming you have to have all this theological understanding and doctrine down to be saved would cancel out the salvation of the
theif on the cross......
zachais the tax collector....
THe gentile Centurian who never went to synagogue and many others......

By the way I have known Jesus since I was 10 when I was born again attending the Church of Christ and never even knew what the trinity was till way into my 20s

I am a non-trinitarian who believes in, worships and serves the only true God/Elohim, Almighty YHWH, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Yeshua. Why would you think I believe in a false god? Is YHWH a false god to you?

What verse says the "Holy Trinity" is the "true God"? Yeshua himself called his Father "the only true God" in John 17:3. By doing so, he excluded himself from that position. The Apostle Paul also declared the Father to be the "true God" in 1 Thessalonians 1:9-10;

For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how you turned to God (the Father) from idols to serve the living and true God;
And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Yeshua, which delivered us from the wrath to come. (parenthesis mine)

MOrmons have 2 books....
The Bible
and the Book of Mormon

they believe both to be from God......
quote
We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God."

That is adding to the Bible
Revelations 22
18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book;
19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Revelation was not the last book to be written chronologically. It's placement at the end of the Bible is due more to it being thematic in that position and due to questions of both authorship and canonicity.

As a result, the passage you cite has no bearing on the Bible as a whole.

In fact, similar passages exist in Deuteronomy 4. If one were to take those passages as literally as people want to take the passage in question, everything after the Pentateuch is "false" due to it being an addition.

Man cannot add to scripture.

God of course can continue to add to His words, as He did when much of the NT was written after the Book of Revelation, including the Gospel of John. Rev 22:18-19 refers to the Book of Revelation, not the Bible.

Yes, I would put the Catholic Church in this group as well, they have a lot of extra-writings they think are equal to the Bible. They also have a false leader who thinks he sits in the place of Jesus Christ on Earth.

I also would put churches who have creeds in that group also because that is extra writings just like the Jehovah's Witness.

Yes just what understanding do you need to be saved? Do you need to know that Jesus was a Jew, born in Bethlehem, ancestor to David, lived under the Roman Empire, amazed the priest at age 12,
turn water into wine, or just believe he is the Son of God who paid the price for sin, to be saved?
