I believe God created the universe, but not 10,000 years ago. A "legitimate" Christian should respect the truth. And the truth is that the universe is not 10000 years old.
The truth is that we have no idea when the universe was created.

No. We have solid scientific evidence for the age of the universe. No one disputes this except those with a "religious" motive.

Well, yes, I guess there are. I think I put the question wrong. Are there any churches / ministries that teach something substantial that doesn't include this nonsense? I used to be quite fond of Ligonier Ministries until they jumped on that wagon. Now I'm really beginning to loose faith here.
The Orthodox, if I understand aright, do believe that God created the universe, but they don't deny evolution, science, etc in any way. Example: Evolution or Creation Science?

There was a good post by @ViaCrucis over here related to this matter: Andy Stanley and Mass Deception

Roman Catholics, too:

Catholics are at liberty to believe that creation took a few days or a much longer period, according to how they see the evidence, and subject to any future judgment of the Church (Pius XII’s 1950 encyclical Humani Generis 36–37). They need not be hostile to modern cosmology. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "[M]any scientific studies . . . have splendidly enriched our knowledge of the age and dimensions of the cosmos, the development of life forms, and the appearance of man. These studies invite us to even greater admiration for the greatness of the Creator" (CCC 283). Still, science has its limits (CCC 284, 2293–4). The following quotations from the Fathers show how widely divergent early Christian views were. (taken from Creation and Genesis | Catholic Answers)

Good afternoon sisters and brothers, gentlemen and gentler women (to borrow from Sparrow),

I have a question, and before I waste all my time browsing for answers, I'll just put it in the room:

Are there any Christians out there, other than those living in Europe, that do not believe in Creationism or ID? Because I'm beginning to feel a little lost.

Thanks.

You indeed are lost. Repent of your unbeleif because you are not rejecting mans testimony but Gods own testimony that He is Creator of all things. How can you believe in the virgin birth and that Christ raised from the dead if you have a hard time believing God created the world?

The god of this world has deceived you to lead you astray. Trust in the Lord and believe in the his WORD and also in the testimony that the very creation itself speaks. You are without excuse!

understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

"Acceptance of evolution by various religious groups"
look at this article at Wikipedia to see if it helps you.
I consider myself to be believer of theistic evolution.
I was thinking that your best bet would be the Unitarian Universalist Church and they are cited in the article.

Yes, my question was posted wrong. My apologies. As mentioned earlier, I'm looking for legitimate Christian teachers or teaching ministries that do not get involved with this pseudo-science of Creationism or ID.
Take a look at biologos.org.

Thank you, Sir. I'll check it out. - Yes, the Catholics are more open to science than conservative Evangelicals it seems (speaking of the U.S.).

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who bore witness to the word of God and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near. John to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood ...

Hi. Thanks for your reply. - I'm not questioning God as Creator. I'm not questioning God at all. I'm just a bit baffled at why it seems so terribly important to some Christians to constantly attack (and misrepresent) the sciences. If anybody's faith is shaken by them it's not mine, but it undermines Christian credibility to confront it with pseudo-science. (St. Augustine already made that point around the year 400.) - But anyway... I was just looking for teachers that can provide some exegesis without these pointless politics constantly interfering.

"Acceptance of evolution by various religious groups"
look at this article at Wikipedia to see if it helps you.
I consider myself to be believer of theistic evolution.
I was thinking that your best bet would be the Unitarian Universalist Church and they are cited in the article.
Thank you, Sir. I actually did look at that. Very helpful. - I see myself more drawn to the Methodists though. Put it as you will, I'm just an incurable "traditionalist" when it comes to church. I like the organ, not rock music, I like the creed, the Lord's Prayer, Communion, a structured service... I'm totally "old time religion" in that. But I do like a good sermon. Long and informing.

Take a look at biologos.org.
Hi! And thanks. Will do. I forgot about them. Francis Collins is involved there, correct? - It broke my heart when Bruce Waltke got fired from his post at the seminary for admitting that "evolution kinda is true". (Paraphrased.) I couldn't believe that a college would fire one of the greatest scholars of today for being true to the truth. That really hit me hard in my accepting as trustworthy anything that comes out of some "teachers" mouths. The American Evangelical Church has the same problem today as the Catholics had with Galileo. And it does make you feel lost. Turn Catholic or Atheist, just get out of this "club".

Collins started BioLogos. He later stepped away from it when he was appointed director of the National Institutes of Health, although he still supports it (and gave a talk at a BioLogos in Houston recently).

Thanks.
Ism? Life was created to evolve from primitive patterns.

Genesis was created by the elite priest class as a comprehensive story of origins and the central beliefs about ancient historic events that lead up to the vantage point of the Babylonion captivity.

I believe what Scripture actually says which agrees with every discovery of Science and History. IF God is telling us the Truth in Genesis, then it MUST agree with every discovery of mankind and it does. Faith plus Fact equals God's Truth. God Bless you

Most Christians, living through out the world, do not believe in the doctrine of creationism.

I was born and raised in a Christian family, went through Christian primary and secondary school. I only became aware that creationism was even a serious belief in my final year of high school, when we had a new student from an evangelical background join the school. I can remember him asking, without a trace of irony, if dinosaurs were around in the time of Jesus.

I didn't realise that people took creationism seriously until I spent some time as a relief teacher in the US (Idaho) and there were arguments in the teachers lounge over whether special creation also deserved a place in the biology course.

Prior to that, I thought it was just a position that people took up as a joke - like a flat earth, ancient aliens or geocentrism. So, even when I was a Christian, creationism was a poor joke to me.

Creationism is a doctrine that flourished in US evangelical circles, based on those equally iffy doctrines of biblical liberalism and biblical infallibility.

ID is just an attempt to cast doubt on the current model of evolutionary biology and to smuggle a "debate" about evolution into the science class room. It's creationism in a stolen lab coat and a fake nose and glasses.

It was probably because you have the wrong interpretation of Genesis. Want me to show you HOW God made the first world and Adam's flat Earth, in the middle of water? on another world? long BEFORE the big bang of our Cosmos?

False since God the Holy Spirit wrote of God's Creation more than 3k years ago and you still cannot understand what He wrote. If you did, you would realize that God told the complete History of His 6 Day Creation of the perfect Heaven in the FIRST chapter of Genesis. He included the prophecy of Gen 1:28-31 which speaks of a time in the Future after Jesus returns at Armageddon, at the end of the present 6th Day.

Hey, you must be a totally devoted fan of the false ToE? Can you explain HOW God's superior intelligence got inside the brains of prehistoric people? within ONE generation? and get that Scriptural Truth to AGREE with the Truth of History? God does. God bless you

If we are talking the precepts of creationism, as opposed to the idea that Someone created exitence, as it were, then I do NOT believe in it.

For example, I believe the earth is older than time - not because of big bang theory, but because of Genesis 1:1
