Anybody have any scars?

Hooola!  How could a gorilla exist without getting scars??

Hah!  I am one scarred gorilla.

On my right middle finger, I got a really nice scar where the doc sliced me open after I got bitten by a brown recluse spider.  I like that scar - it saved my life what the doc did for me.

I had neck surgery recently and the doc put me back together with crazy glue (known as Dermoplast in medical terminology).  That one can hardly be seen now.

I got more, but those are my fave-rave scars.

Has anyone else noticed that the scars serve as reminder of events in our lives that would otherwise be forgotten? Scars may not be as bad a thing as most folks (that's hillbilly English for people) sometimes think, or so it appesrs to me, but then, I'm just..........

An appendectomy scar, and numerous temporary scars on my hands, arms and legs that are constantly being kindly replenished by my cat. ;)

Same here.

Have you tried to trim your cat's claws? Y'know, just above the quick.  It's way better for your cat than declawing.

I had surgery this past November on my lung and I have a pretty big scar that starts under my left arm and goes up my back towards my shoulder blade. Then I had hernia surgery a few weeks ago, so I have a good scar just above my groin area. I have a scar on my left wrist from when I was a kid that is pretty impressive. That is all the scars I want thank you. I don't want anymore scars!!!!!! :(

I have never done it, and probably couldn't bring myself to even though my legs take a clawing every summer when I am only under a thin sheet and my cat thinks every movement I make is an opportunity to play. :)

Cool, dude!
I like what you said.

That would probably be an interesting thread - 'What good things do your scars help you to remember that you might otherwise forget?'

Lots of wonderful stories come to my mind already.

Whadja think?  Wanna talk about that?

My scars....

One right above my ankle from standing on a glass window that was lying on barn floor. I was trying to see the baby birdies. 3 stiches.

One right above my lip, from tumbling down cement steps in my baby stroller. Can't remember if it took any stiches, I'm thinking it did, because my smile is crooked from it.

One on my forehead, don't know if that is from chicken pox or the baby stroller accident.

Slight scar on palm side, ring ringer on left hand. Was cleaning a window that was cracked, hand went through window.

Two different scars on my last two toes on my left foot, I do believe that came from the window standing incident.

The last one scar that required stiches is on the bottom of my right foot. I used to live across the road from some railroad tracks. Train went by and jarred a caserole dish off a shelf. I went to clean it up. The glass was the same color as the floor vents and I went to scratch the bottom of my foot and sliced it instead. 12 stiches.

And I have bunch more other scars, like from burns and scratches and other little things.

The one lesson that I have learned from all this is.......I would rather have a cut that requires stiches than get a paper cut, paper cuts hurt worse. And once the cut is numbed up I get to sit there and watch it get sewed up :p

I wouldn't trade any one of these accidents. I've learned so much from them. And they remind me of different times in my life.

I also wouldn't trade in any of my emotional scars either, they make up who I am today. I've learned many valueable lessons from those scars. And each one of my emotional scars stands for one more step that I have taken in my journey of growing closer and closer to my Lord and Savior, Jesus

It doesn't hurt them if you clip the tip off.  Just make sure that its above the quick (above the pink part inside the claw).  Wait till your cat is sleepy, asleep, or just really relaxed.  If that doesn't work, massage their paw for a bit and talk to them softly.  Or just wear slippers in bed. :D
