I agree with you on this.My argument is that these parables are not to be taken separately. You certainly can if you wish, but notice that this is all one discourse, which implies our Lord was driving on a particular point throughout the entire teaching: That they would be responsible to feed His household spiritual food until He returned. There is no time gap, with Him teaching one parable, walking somewhere, and then teaching the next parable as if it were unrelated to the first. It is a continuous teaching, so any proper interpretation needs to take into account the rest of the parables together in their collective context.
