I don't know any Anabaptist who agrees with Calvin nor with tulip - but this thread was meant for honest truthful look at prayer, not to see other competing doctrines (which were addressed in other threads already) .Anabaptist vs. Calvinist theology
"Anabaptist theology defines the church as the voluntary association of believers in Christ."
Anabaptist vs. Calvinist theology
"There are Baptists who are Calvinists, but I don't think any Anabaptists, based on what you posted.
Here are some links on Anabaptist theology. ...... <<OLD LINKS, unchecked>>

This one particularly deals with grace and the Atonement:
Direction: The Atonement in Anabaptist Theology
Anabaptists certainly do not believe in Limited Atonement or Irresistable Grace, and probably would at least not entirely agree with Calvinists on the other points of TULIP, either.""

Hi Jeff, as a Calvinist, if you asked me which church I consider farthest away from Calvinism within the pale of orthodoxy, I would answer, "the RCC". And yet, I use the Catechism of the Catholic Church regularly, especially when trying to explain the orthodox Christian faith to non-Christians or baby Christians, because it is so good at doing that.

Why, as a Calvinist, am I able to do this? Simple, because Reformed Theology and Catholic Theology are in perfect harmony with one another in at least 90% of the faith.

So it is with Reformed and Anabaptist theologies, so my recommendation to you is this, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater ;) All of your complaints above are about Reformed "soteriology", but the quote I posited had absolutely nothing to do with soteriology. Rather, it details some of the important reasons why we all, as "Christians", need to persevere in prayer.

I didn't post that quote because it was written by Calvin, I posted it because of what it says, and because it has been beneficial to me personally, especially here of late (and because I believed it would be a blessing to others as well :)).

This is your thread however, so if you'd like me to remove the quote simply because it was made by Calvin, I will do so. Just let me know.

FYI , I went page by page through that 'authority' or 'reference' of man's traditions that you posted that you used.
On every page was a blatant opposition to GOD'S WORD - every page.
I never bothered going back to look again. And no, it's not appropriate to discuss it here.(per site rules as well as Anabaptist beliefs.).
i.e. there's no benefit to anyone.

I'm sorry, I'm at a loss to understand what you are talking about. What do you mean by you went "page by page" through it? Through what exactly  I posted a single quote in this thread (and it contained, at most, a single paragraph about "prayer").

This thread concerns prayer, does it not, and the reasons why we should pray? Where do you find ANYTHING except that subject being addressed in the quote I posted above by John Calvin? Where can these "pages and pages" of "blatant opposition to GOD'S WORD", that you refer to be found in this thread??????

Again, I am very confused :(

This thread is about prayer, and the quote I posited concerns prayer (and NOTHING ELSE). Here again is the quote in question. What are your specific objections to what 'it' has to say?

edit: quote removed
As for the CCC, I used it as an example to make the point, not to discuss the theology it espouses (which you seemed to have missed). I had no intention of discussing it here, OR Calvinism for that matter, which I have not done.

YOU ALONE did that!!

It's against this board's rules to debate anything that's in opposition to Anabaptist beliefs. I haven't done so, nor will I be baited into doing so ;)

So I'm still perplexed, still at a loss to understand what you are talking about, and what you are blaming me for

Could Menno Simons have written similar words about prayer? If not, why not?? What does the quote I posited above say in opposition to Anabaptist beliefs

Thanks!

The most amazing prayer in 2000 years:

Father, let all the disciples of Jesus be protected by Your Word, as always in the past, as always in Scripture,
even when we/they did not know it,
from
all the power of the enemy. Let all the disciples of Jesus live and walk in Your Kingdom now on earth and learn what this means , especially for the sake of others seeking Your Kingdom, that they may be finding and entering Your Kingdom according to the Perfect Purpose of Your Will, and Your Plan of Salvation in Jesus.
Father , as it is Your Good Pleasure, let all the disciples of Jesus be living with You as One, United with Jesus in You, Living Daily in Union with You. As You and Jesus have always been One, so let us all be One, According to Your Original Plan, Your Perfect Plan, Your Eternal Plan, to show forth Your Wisdom throughtout all Eternity to all the Hosts in Heaven . Amein.
