I was wondering because I might get some (either chickens or quail...probably not both, but I want to know about both of them) and I have a few questions about keeping them.

That's why I wanted to get chickens, for the eggs.we have 11 chickens and enjoy their eggs.
Alright, thanks! It makes sense that egg shells would make their eggs harder, since the egg shells have a lot calcium in them. I'll keep that in mind...We give them lots of grain, bread and plenty of veggie scraps. We also give them
their egg shells since we heard it makes their eggs harder.
Do you think they'd still do it if I crushed up hardboiled eggs (with the shells)?Note of caution....If you do give them egg shells, crush them small and you can add it to the feed. If you give them large pieces, it can lead to a bad habit of eating the good eggs. If they get this habit, you can put golf balls or fake plastic eggs in the nest, but it's harder to correct than it is to prevent it. Ours are in locked up in the coop so long in the winter they got this habit from eating scraps, and an egg would get pushed out of a nest box onto the floor. Keeping food readily available helps too.
Tip: Chickens attract snakes.
Lil davida has been missed. Has anyone heard from her.A lady I know about raises chickens. Next time I see her, I'll ask her for you.
