I'm surprised there has been no uproar regarding the Alien Covenant movie coming up. A bunch of couples are sent off to colonize a distant planet and NOT ONE OF THE COUPLES IS GAY! How on earth did that slip by the LBGTQWERTY community in silence, huh?
Well that was relevant.

Hahahahahaha!

Speaking as somebody who is "part of" the LGBT community, i'm surprised at that too! They often get outraged at stupid things.

It's "normal", in the same sense that being left handed or red haired is "normal". Even if it wasn't, no one "owns" Santa. If someine wants to depict him as gay or black or whatever, that's called "freedom of expression". No one's saying you have to like it, but I really don't think it's worth the angst. No one's being forced to buy it or read it. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Not seeing the problem.

Being attracted to the same sex is not normal. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says that it is objectively disordered. If it were normal, it would not be disordered.

Depends on how you define "normal". Either way, if you don't like it, don't buy it. End of problem.

As I said, the Catechism of the Catholic Church calls same-sex attraction disordered and that is enough for me to say that it is not normal and this is coming from someone who does suffer from attraction to the same sex.

That said, I never did like the "If you don't like it, don't buy it." thing. People say this when they want to discourage boycotts and other such things. There is nothing wrong with boycotting a company or a product if one disagrees with the message they are sending. Everyone has a right to buy what they want and to refuse to buy what they choose and everyone also has the freedom to influence others to make a similar decision.

Personally, haven't told anyone not to buy the book because for one thing, it's not even the holiday season and for another, I really don't care all that much about the issue. I care enough to continue on a conversation about it on an online forum but that's about as far as my concern goes.

Um, "if you don't like it, don't buy it" is basically what a boycott is!

You are right but when I read your post it seemed as though you were being dismissive of the concerns of people about the book. I apologize if I misunderstood you.

What if your children's school is buying it?

What if you're walking down the street and you accidentally make bodily contact with a gay person?

Raise your kids at home as you please. Don't let everything fall to the schools. Teachers are educators, not parents.

I do not know if I should be offended or amused by this thread. With that said, as a mother of grown kids LGBTQ communities shouldn't be putting this on children. Let them be kids. Kids don't think about sex & marriage when they think about Christmas. They think about toys.

Isn't Santa traditionally depicted as married to Mrs. Claus? How does this any more about sex and marriage then that?

Depicting Santa Clause as married to Mrs. Clause does not make it about sex and marriage. The topic of sex doesn't even come up in Christmas stories for children. Marriage really doesn't even come up either. Sure, it's shown that Santa Clause and Mrs. Clause are a family but that doesn't mean that it is a topic of discussion.

Kids don't define married people as having sex with each other. Their minds don't go there. There is no need to teach a kid that. Let kids be kids. It's up to the parents to teach kids what it all means.

Then why is it a problem with Mr. and Mr. Claus? Seems kind of double standard-y.
