What exactly happens after we die?

On one end, people say our souls go to their eternal destination. Heaven or hell.

On the other end, people say that our entirety, our whole being, our "soul" (which is used to refer to the entirety of a person and NOT something separate) goes to sleep in the grave to wake up in the resurrection of the dead, the day when earth will be renewed.

I ask that aside from just picking an answer, you explain why you think so too.

Thank you.

:wave:Greetings brother! I hope you are having a splendid day because I sure am, starting to get hot and sunny down here in England (was starting to think I have evolved into a vampire with how little sun we get). Perhaps a conversation for another time! Well, let us begin.

Q - What happens when we die?

Allow me to share with you a story! A story of the Bible. Where we will be exploring the vastness of the New Testament. In particular, a story about a man called Jesus. Jesus is the son of God and I have to confess...I am pretty infatuated with this guy, there is just something about him, the aura he projects perhaps?*Sorry am I boring you?* Anyway back on track, we will be looking at Mark 5:41-45. Now, a little back story before you read this, that marvel of a man called Jesus healed a girl who had died after there was a slight (and quite understandable) commotion. Starting at verse 41 (NIV)

After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished. 43 He gave strict orders not to let anyone know about this, and told them to give her something to eat.

But wait, one second... that does not answer your question. No it does not. Allow us to take a step back for in the verses prior to this, for we will seek our answer there.

He went in and said to them,"Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40 But they laughed at him

What will happen when we die, you ask? We lay dormant.

It is my understanding that time does not exist outside of this human life.....so how "long" do you believe we will lay dormant?

Hello brother, may Christ the King bless you and your family. Well, round 2! Allow me to share light with my brothers and sisters in Christ...
You are right in how time is distorted between our two dimensions. 'with the Lord a thousand years is that of one day, and a thousand years are like a day', gratitude to Peter.

There are several resurrections. The first is the rapture. The bride will reign with his groom for a thousand years. Then, the dead(believers) will be judged by the Almighty, the Alpha, the Omega. Shortly later the dead(unbelievers) will ascend and be judged for their ignorance or rebellion.

To answer your question brother if you did not catch on. You will either be raptured (I predict less than a few years) and if not, in a thousand years from now to make the calculation easy.

Yes, these are times for the living. But to the souls that left the body...I would suspect that it would be a blink of an eye.....similar to when we sleep at night or put to sleep for an operation....For the living 8 hours may have passed.....for the sleep.....less than a second.

I also happened to believe all the events you mentioned are spiritual and not Physical

I am sorry but I do not quite understand what you ask. Souls leaving the body you ask? They would would only leave in accordance to the rapture or in judgement. No where else. A soul remains in the body until it is called up. The time between a soul is called to when they ascend high into the sky would be in an instant.

Wait a second...

Are you seriously believing that the rapture will happen in just a few years? What made you come to that conclusion?

Brother. The time is nigh. Have the prophecies not been fulfilled? Homosexuality has been accepted (civil partnership) in Babylon (USA), Israel has been re-united as a nation, 1948 I believe. It says in scripture, your elders will dream dreams and your young will see visions. This has never been in abundance more than any time period in history. Continuing on. We have pestilence -Ebola. And the list goes on. The church is asleep and is not ready for the broom to greet its bride hence why I believe Christ has delayed but fools, do not think that he stays idle any longer. Repent! The first resurrection is to take place.

What do you think it will be like? Will people disappear? And why do you feel you will be a part of it?

On the other end, people say that our entirety, our whole being, our "soul" (which is used to refer to the entirety of a person and NOT something separate) goes to sleep in the grave to wake up in the resurrection of the dead, the day when earth will be renewed.

I ask that aside from just picking an answer, you explain why you think so too.

Thank you.

It is critically important to understand that the REAL you is the soul/spirit-Being and that you are temporarily incarnating the human-animal body you see in the mirror.

When the human body you are temporarily incarnating dies, you are taken up to the Astral Plain/Plane, aka "Paradise" to receive your life review. All of the evil that has been committed in the human lifetime just lived is then erased so that you return with only the good that you've learned over all of your previous lifetimes. That way every Soul/Spirit is in the exact place it has earned a place to be in eternal time. Perfect Divine Justice.

Upon reading this, many Christians will disagree and claim the Bible doesn't teach reincarnation when in fact it does. Rather than list all of the Scriptural references here, please read the article at the following link which lists many of the references to reincarnation:-

Reincarnation Is an Irrefutable Fact | Spirit

The heaven and hell option that most people have been incorrectly taught occurs at the death of the human body cannot possibly be true. Christ told us very clearly that He is the ONLY One Who has ever gone to heaven (John 3:13).

We call this place Earth, but in truth this is hell. For doubters, please consider that people routinely lie, cheat and steal on this planet, women are raped, children are molested, murder, crime and war are rampant and yet we consider ourselves to be a "civilized" society. NONE of these things could happen in a truly civilized society. And with regard to the flames, those are reserved for the Last Day (hell-fire, the Lake of Fire, or just The Fire).

Please also consider that the Bible clearly states that Lucifer/Satan/the devil, etc. was cast TO THE EARTH and his followers were cast down with him (Rev. 12:7-9).

I believe your notion of reincarnation is a classic form of heresy. No offense, but by strict definitions, your belief is as unorthodox as it can ever get. Therefore, it is heresy.

I'm leaning more towards Luca Lalsie here. It is a fact that the idea of a soul separate from the body came from other philosophers and NOT the original Hebrew Bible. It was Origen who put such an idea to orthodox Christianity as we know it today. But just because it is a popular opinion doesn't make it true.

I think I'm convinced. The soul is NOT immortal. The soul is us, our entirety, our very being. When we die, we sleep. We sleep in the grave until the resurrection of the dead, when all will be judged.

Belief in an immortal soul separate from the body opens up the person into the world of Spiritualism, which is Satanic garbage.

John 11 "Lazarus sleeps - I go that I may wake HIM".

1 Thess 4
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Proof via inescapable logic - of the future resurrection to a hostile audience -

Matt 22
29 But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” 33 When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.

34 But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together.

1. The Bible does NOT teach classic reincarnation - it teaches first-death THEN resurrection. One instance only and it does not take you back to your birth nor does it erase you memory. Not many "cycles" of death followed by BIRTH reincarnation

2. The non-Christian philosophy of 'many birth cycles" has as its great goal - to END The "Birth cycle". Which Christianity does RIGHT from the start!

3. In the philosophy of reincarnation you cannot know if this life is punishment for you or reward. IF you used to be wealthy prince or king -- then your life now is "the downward path" -- if you used to be a slave -- then your life now is great advancement and reward on the upward path. You have no clue if you are supposed to stop doing what you always do - or persist on doing what you always do.

4. And for all you know - this is your FIRST cycle in that birth-cycle philosophy which means you have no prior human life to reference at all.

A soul remains in the body until it is called up
But, but, what about a body that is cremated? What about a Christian that dies in a fire or explosion?

But would it be just that a baby goes straight to heaven without a chance to get tempted to sin, while an adult lives for God most of his life and get tempted at the end, back slides and then goes to hell? Assuming you believe infants go to heaven and that you can lose your salvation after getting it.

Also is it just to spend an eternity in hell for not finding the right way in 30 minutes of human life? Assuming you believe one day is 1000 years to God, a human who lives to be 80 would only live for less than 30 minutes to him. Would the God who is love make a decision like that based on such a short interval?

Why do people get sick? Because of sin (transgressing/breaking The Law).

John 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the Temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a WORSE thing come unto thee.

Did Jesus teach his disciples about this and about reincarnation? Certainly. That's why the disciples asked Jesus who had sinned to cause someone to be BORN blind.

John 9:1-3
9:1 And as [Jesus] passed by, he saw a man which was blind from [his] birth. (re-incarnation)
9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did SIN, THIS MAN, or his parents, that he was BORN blind?
9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

The man was born blind as punishment for the sins of his past life (or lives), to teach him the lessons he would need to learn to progress spiritually and avoid the SECOND death (the death of the Soul in The Fire on the Last Day).

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell-fire.

People can argue all they wish and call the TRUE Teachings of Christ heresy or satanic, etc. but that doesn't make it so, and really is only making matters worse for them.

Isaiah 5:20-21
5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for Light, and Light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
5:21 Woe unto [them that are] wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

Matthew 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration (re-incarnation, Christ's Second Coming - NOW) when the Son of Man shall sit in the Throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the Twelve Tribes of Israel.

Angels never get tempted to sin and yet people do. Same with whatever other intelligent sinless beings there are in the universe. The Bible does not make any claims to all humans being adults, or being tempted the same as everyone else - but allows for "to him that knows to do right and does it not - to him it is sin".

Assuming you believe infants go to heaven and that you can lose your salvation after getting it.

Yes that is what I believe.

Also is it just to spend an eternity in hell for not finding the right way in 30 minutes of human life?

Why would anyone go to hell if they lived only 30 minutes?? In the "infants go to heaven" at the 2nd coming and resurrection scenario - it does not happen.

Assuming you believe one day is 1000 years to God, a human who lives to be 80 would only live for less than 30 minutes to him. Would the God who is love make a decision like that based on such a short interval?

God never says that humans need to live 36,500 years because 1 year is a day to God.

What is more -- the 2 Peter 3 text that says "a thousand years is as a day" to God... also says "a day is as a thousand years to God" - it says it "both ways" so it is not a time-mapping device rather it is a way to say that a day is not too short for God to act nor a 1000 years too long for God to wait.

The doctrine of karma is very anti-Christian. In karma, you achieve spiritual perfection by your works. In true Christianity, you achieve spiritual perfection through acceptance of God's grace. Succeed at accepting Jesus (with living a sinless life as a side-effect) and you get to be with Him for eternity.

Also, there is no mathematical formula for good fortune and bad fortune. God either blesses you with a comfortable life or He does not. It's all up to Him. Righteous people get punished and wicked people get blessed. The world, as it is now, is riddled with s***. This is not how it's supposed to be. Life is unfair and you can't escape from it now. Karma, reincarnation, tarot card reading, all of those and other garbage are doctrines of Satan.
