The point was that by the time they reached their destination, even though flying straight, they would have a sideways drift that would make it impossible to land on the stationary runway.

Also, pilots used gyroscopes as their main instrument, the artificial horizon. On a flat earth, a plane flying from Brazil to Anchorage would have a gyroscope that would remain perfectly horizontal to the plane that it rotated in.
On a globe, the gyroscope would have to break the law of rotating bodies and stay aligned with the surface of the earth that would gradually rotate. Thus the gyroscope would have to either gradually rotate (contrary to the purpose and characteristics of a gyroscope) or remain true and the plane would have to fly off into space in order to maintain the path indicated by the artificial horizon.

Oh I've seen that video and myriad like it. But the truth is that, just because I watch a video with an anonymous person making a proposition; doesn't make it true. I have a telescope. I view planets all of the time. One thing I know: if the sun has gone down, it is no longer viewable through a telescope. This is not "perspective", it is a solid body obstructing my view of the sun.

Someone earlier tried this with the ship disappearing on the horizon; using better camera will cause it to come back into view. The same is absolutely not true of the sun. The "perspective" explanation is merely a man stating words that are not true, and people believing the words without testing their veracity. Get yourself a telescope, aim it at the sun and watch it disappear from view for the entire night.

I've eyewitnessed the sun disappear below the horizon. That's all I need to seriously doubt "flat earth" propositions. I can see craters on the moon, and the rings of Saturn with a telescope, and you're wanting me to believe I can't view the sun at midnight? The only reasonable conclusion is that the sun is not continually above a flat earth.

Nope. But I've seen the sunset, and know for fact I can't bring the sun back into view even with a telescope.

Oh, please. The already shaky credibility of the church is only hurt by denying the well established fact that the earth is a sphere.
