The Church creates the culture. We have let the culture to create our churches. God gave mercy on us!
Very true. It's exactly what Jesus warned us would happen. Doctrines of men and doctrines of demons, instead of the doctrines of God.
But there are great movements of true Christianity, I believe, in all churches. I for one keep preaching true repentance and faith in Christ, and I will keep doing so.
I encourage everyone else to join me! Let's be the light of the world, not empty lamps.
I don't think it should be surprising that outside influences lead the church astray throughout church history. The first century church was inundated with Judaism and a swarm of pagan influences, reflected in the admonitions of Paul and the other New Testament writers. When Jesus critiques the 7 churches of Asia Minor there are only two he does not find fault with, that should tell us something. The Church creates the culture. We have let the culture to create our churches. God gave mercy on us!
The church wont die, but it could be said to be shrinking in many ways. In my view, it got mugged by the scholar and theologian who came along after the first century.
A life of simple faith in Christ and total reliance on the Holy Spirit, gave way to a far more complicated life based on the theologies of the 'brightest and the best,' that had little, if any true bearing on the Christians walk to live an ever holier life
The love of money, immorality that was named amongst our church leaders, and man made philosophy, the twisting of scriptures and arrogant and self righteous church leaders helped to both ruin and give Christianity a bad name. Just as scripture prophesied it would.Imho.
Western humanism and unbridled faith in technology account for a lot of the decline in the Church in the west. A very rationalistic approach to life. Nietzsche was right in many ways, the problem with the modern world is that we've become slaves to our own science. It's become like Frankenstein. The Fukushima plant disaster is a good example of this. Rather than mastering ourselves, we are mastering nature. But we are still the same on the inside as we were 1,000 years ago, still fragile and fallible creatures struggling in a seemingly indifferent universe. There is a lack of appropriate fear and humility in the face of our plight that the ancients had. I think real scientists understand these issues, but the public is sort of isolated from that reality.
