How exactly did Jesus become the source of salvation to mankind? The OT states that the Lord God is our salvation.

Psalm 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation. Selah rsv

Isaiah 12:2
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. rsv

Why exactly is Jesus the way to the Father?
You may want to read Hebrews for your answer.

"5 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:

2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;

9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

10 Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec."

I do believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, but many, many people believe that it is impossible for a person to inherit eternal life if he is not a Christian. I disagree with them.
2 Thessalonians 1:7 "...the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord..."

I don't see how you can get around that.

Jesus Christ has two natures: Divine and human. Jesus Christ cannot "learn" obedience and be made perfect with His Divine nature, but He can learn obedience and be made perfect in His human nature.

Jesus Christ cannot suffer and die in His Divine nature, but He can suffer and die in His human nature. That is why God the Trinity, who is the source of salvation, sent the Son to become human and to suffer and die for the purpose of the Trinity of God (Salvation). The Son/Word of God becomes Incarnate/human and is called Jesus Christ and thereby by His suffering and death He is able to become the source/author of salvation to all humans who obey Him.

Hebrews 5:9
and being made perfect he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, rsv

And, so we should also learn obedience by the things that we suffer. Suffering should bring us closer and closer to God so that we will then learn to love and obey Him more and more.

Philippians 2:8
And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross.

Romans 8:17
and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. rsv

2 Corinthians 1:5
For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. rsv

Not sure what you are arguing..but you'll have to argue with Scripture..

Add:
Maybe you are saying He is already perfect ...so he can't be made perfect?
I think perfect is referring to the goal met that his father purposed for Him.

Never sure what your responses are to.....

I don't see how you can get around that.

God is not bound by the rules that He makes for us to obey. Some people obey God's laws even though, through no fault of their own, they do not know Him. God will most likely have mercy on them and save them.

Romans 2:14-16
14 When Gentiles who have not the law do by nature what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that what the law requires is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or perhaps excuse them 16 on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. rsv

Romans 9:15
For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have
mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” rsv

God saved the pagan Rahab and her whole family because she did good.

Joshua 6:25
But Rahab the harlot, and her father’s household, and all who belonged to her, Joshua saved alive; and she dwelt in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. rsv

1 Corinthians 4:5
Therefore do not pronounce judgment before the time, before the Lord comes, who will bring to light the things now hidden in darkness and will disclose the purposes of the heart. Then every man will receive his commendation from God. rsv

2 Corinthians 5:10
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body. rsv

John 5:28-29
Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

Jan lets start with John 5...and there is more but...here a passage that is part of Chap 5

"30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me."

John 6:40
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

to honor the Father one must honor his son....visa versa

In your 2 cor 5 passage you left out the important context:

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

11 Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.

12 For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.

13 For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:

15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

As for Rahab, she had faith that is why she saved them so they would save her.

"And she said unto the men, I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.

10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.

12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:

She did what she did based on faith...see Hebrews...

As for Romans 2: the high lighted is impotant part of context:

"[But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:

11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;]"

Remember what the scripture states eternal life is?

Jan, your system makes it completely unnecessary to tell others about Jesus.
All they have to do is be good.
Which makes the cross of none effect.

You left out all the impotant contexual parts of those scriprures....and God does obey himself...God does not lie....

No, I do not think that I left out anything that was necessary in order to understand those Scriptures.

God is I AM. God makes laws for angels and for humans to obey. God does not make laws for Himself to obey.

John 5:30 is no longer valid for Jesus Christ because He has, since then, died on the cross, risen from the dead, and been exalted and seated at the right hand of His Father. Jesus Christ is ruling/reigning in heaven over all the world right now.

God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit agree together about everything in perfect unity because they are only one God. Jesus Christ is in heaven right now. He has been exalted to His Father's right hand. He is no more a little lower than the angels He is now high above them in dignity and honor.

Hebrews 2:6-8
It has been testified somewhere,
“What is man that thou art mindful of him,
or the son of man, that thou carest for him?
7 Thou didst make him for a little while lower than the angels,
thou hast crowned him with glory and honor,
8 putting everything in subjection under his feet.”
Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control
. As it is, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. rsv

To believe in God means to obey God. There is no continued belief in God without continued obedience to His commandments. There is no love for God without obedience to God's commandments.

John 14:15
If you love me, you will keep (obey) my commandments. rsv

John 14:21
He who has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me; and he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” rsv

John 15:10
If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. rsv

1 John 5:2
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. rsv

1 John 2:4
He who says “I know him” but disobeys his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him; rsv

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

RE:
"And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."

What do you think happens to the persons who do choose to live unto themselves (they live to satisfy their own desires) instead of their choosing to live their lives in imitation of Jesus' Christ's life of obedience to His Father's commands (even though His obedience resulted in His death)?

Philippians 2:8
And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. rsv

Jan all this passage is saying is Jesus is our Judge...
But you have already been shown how he will Judge...
By the will of his Father..
Its not us who judge anything we only can give you scriptures to show How He/scriptures says He'll Judge...

Christians can judge the actions of people and decide for themselves if these people's actions are either good or evil according to God's commandments.

Luke 12:57-58
And why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? 58 As you go with your accuser before the magistrate, make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he drag you to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the officer, and the officer put you in prison. rsv

John 7:24
Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” rsv

Acts 16:15
And when she was baptized, with her household, she besought us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us. rsv

1 Corinthians 5:12-13
For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? 13 God judges those outside. “Drive out the wicked person from among you.”rs

What we cannot do is judge a person's intentions or the state of his/her soul. We do not know what is in the person's heart, but God does know.

1 Peter 1:17
And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile. rsv

Luke 16:15
But he said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts; for what is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

Rahab had faith because God had mercy on her and gave her the gift of faith. Rahab believed because God made it possible for her to believe.

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God— rsv

Romans 12:3
For by the grace given to me I bid every one among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith which God has assigned him. rsv

Galatians 3:5
Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith? rsv
