Hi all, my name is Don and I am glad to be here. I tend to ascribe to the Reformed doctrines but I must admit that I often get confused about things and need to keep studying the Word and compare what I read with what I hear. I do not go to church regularly because I have difficulty making social relationships. I have been diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder and I receive SSI benefits. When I go to church and people learn about my situation they tend to stay away from me.

Well, I hope this forum helps me with interacting with people, even if it is only a digital interaction... thanks!

Welcome! To introduce myself to you...

I am a person with mental health issues that are being treated, I come from a weird family and a weird past. A very good debater who understood the Bible and many other things, is the reason I'm not an atheist. I believe in God and the Trinity, but am also careful about just what I believe. Doesn't mean I'm right though. You can call me Edward. I named my username after a philosophical idea of Plato, and my avatar is from a Wii video game.

Hi Edward! Please call me Don and I hope that we might share some of our experiences because I was diagnosed in 2009 but suffered from this disorder since around 1983. I was never able to hold a job and had very uneven success in school... I have had many psychotic episodes, some of which have lasted for a year or more, and still drip into my thoughts even today. Many of my episodes have had grandiose, paranoid, government, and spiritual underpinnings. I believe I have communicated with demons and that they tell me the future. They speak to me internally, through other people, through radio/tv, and signs (road signs, store signs, etc.) I do not take any medicine because they have told me that there is a coming mass extermination of the mentally ill coming in the future and that they will use pharmacology to cover their tracks. (This is going to begin in Trump's SECOND term, yes... SECOND -- so you might be safe right now... but be careful).

I have been a smoker for 40 years and recently they have told me I have lung cancer so I think I'll go get checked soon, but I have problems dealing with doctors and tests in general (always paranoid of their hidden intentions)...

I am trying to trust in Jesus/God for eternal salvation but I often get confused about things... I have committed horrible sins but I know that Jesus can forgive me of all of them!

Thanks for the welcome!

Don

I've heard the voice of God internally, and I may have heard schizophrenic voices internally too. But a demon might have talked to me one time too, and vocally. When I was having Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from being sued and had a lot of guilt, a deep, dark voice said outside my window, "You better not do any more bad things, or it'll be the electric chair."

Do you have a psychiatrist/psychologist? Do you take medicine?

Thanks Everyone! I hope to see you all around the forums for further interactions... I appreciate the warm welcomes here and my goal is that I can learn more about Jesus so that I can know Him as my savior and Lord. I do not want to be tormented by demons or faulty brain chemistry -- The only spirit I want in me is the HOLY SPIRIT!

Greetings Don, like you I am also a diagnosed schzaphrenic. All things work together for good, for those that are called according to God's purpose. Sometimes we have to recognize that the bible says that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. We have to understand that sometimes what we see and hear is delusional thinking caused by our mental illness. Back in the days of yesteryear they would call us touched. With that being said I can relate to what you and theory are talking about. Welcome aboard.

Hi; good to see you on the forums; God bless His Word to you. It's good to keep 'looking unto Jesus' (Hebrews 12.2) and to feed daily and prayerfully on God's Word, and where possible enjoy a fellowship relationship with local Christians. Do you know ppl who are more sick than you are? visiting the sick - as opportunity arises - can also be a blessing.
