I am from the West Country. I am a freighter pilot; I used to fly Boeing 707s for a small cargo outfit on exciting services in East Africa. i quite liked the 707; not many left in service any more, so these days I fly the more prosaic 757QF for a European operator.

In my religious life I've been a member of the United Reformed Church but recently have formed an interested in more ancient forms of Christianity. i am in search of something richer and more spiritually fulfilling. I've been settling into a Church of England parish that's a bit high church, but am also visiting Catholic, Lutheran, Moravian and Orthodox churches.

I am very interested in the Old Catholic tradition.

looking forward to meeting you!

Welcome! I have always been an aviation nut and one day hope to have my pilots license. I hope you enjoy the forums :)

What kinds of aircraft are you into?

Being a commercial pilot, I liked the 707 because it was technically challenging and handled well, requiring a skilled three man crew.

but for actual fun, what you want is a LearJet. they're like fighter jets

I have always been into commercial planes, especially the jumbo jets like the 747 and A380. I was really considering becoming an air traffic controller at one point as well.

707's without hush kits were awesome... back when I was a lineman, hearing and feeling those was a mind blowing thing. In comparison, it made the Concord sound like a Bae146, well maybe not quite that far, but feeling the 707's rumble out in the fuel truck, wow... what memories. Flying one of those had to be an incredible experience.

There is a huge wealth of knowledge in the congregational forums here, and some really helpful people. The only caveat, is participants on CF congregational forums generally are pretty well versed in the beliefs of their given congregation... such is generally not the case for the average person in a pew within a given congregation. What this often equates too, is that CF tends to lean towards the extremes. Such is helpful when it comes to figuring out how one will mesh with a given denomination's beliefs which is a very good thing. Its not so helpful when it creates an almost extremist portrait, that in a local church while present, are not going to be anywhere near as visible as they are on CF. Granted, this does vary a great deal from church to church.

Welcome to CF
