I honestly don't know. I wouldn't assume that because the issue long predates the travel ban.
I'm aware they're not a single homogeneous block, and I would classify them as extremists - they;re just being Muslims:
"Hive minded", on the other hand, is an excellent description of the nature of Islam. The essence of Islam is its multiplicity of rules, many of them quite arbitrary, that its followers are expected to obey without question. These rules govern even the most mundane aspects of everyday life. That is the very definition of a hive mind. That is the very reason for the undesirability of Muslim immigration into any non-Muslim society. It's not only, or even primarily about terrorism. It's that the whole point of Islam is not to adapt to life in a non-Muslim country. Islam's aim, rather is to assimilate other cultures to it, and we frequently do see Westerners asked to change the way they live for the sake of Muslim immigrants. Terrorism is just one aspect of a much more fundamental problem.
Several nationalities were represented in that group, but only one creed. This is a clue as which is the important factor.
