I am not sure about this, it really set my creep meter off.

The widow of Joe Biden‘s late son Beau Biden has started a romantic relationship with her former brother-in-law, Hunter Biden, the former Vice President’s younger son.

Hallie Biden, who was devastated when her husband Beau died after suffering from brain cancer in May 2015, is now officially a couple with Hunter, 47, who has separated from his wife Kathleen.

Former Vice President Joe Biden added that he and his wife Dr. Jill Biden have given their blessing to the relationship. He said, “We are all lucky that Hunter and Hallie found each other as they were putting their lives together again after such sadness. They have mine and Jill’s full and complete support and we are happy for them.”

You know, in the Old Testament, Jewish law under some circumstances required people to marry their widow's unmarried siblings.

I don't see a problem with this type of thing in a modern day random context. It's not incest. It's two people who find each other and come to love each other. It's totally consensual. Each person involved is an adult. Maybe some of it's because the other person reminds you of someone you used to love, but that can happen anytime you date a new person, whether it's the brother or sister of someone you used to date or be married to or not. And, certainly, no one would say a widow can not start dating again if she wants to.

I really don't see the problem. I also think we should respect the Biden family's privacy, especially in cases like this where the people involved are not themselves public figures, but just relatives of public figures (And not even spouses at that- Beau was in politics- and was a great public servant- his father Joe thought Beau would be better at it than he was- but Beau's passed away, this is his widow). It's not for us to judge.

But if I married and my wife died, and she had a sister who I developed a deep friendship and eventually a love for, and I came to love her for who she was and not *just* because she reminded me of my dead wife, but that she was her own human with some similar qualities and some different qualities, just like anyone else could be, I'd not think twice about moving that relationship forward. What's the problem? The problem only really comes in is if you start thinking of that person as the other person you knew and don't properly differentiate- you can't hold that person to expectations of being like her sister, or blame her for being different, you can love the similarities, but in the end you have to love her for who she is as an individual and establish a relationship based on that love, that doesn't carry unwarranted expectations that she actually be someone else. You have to kind of treat it like it's something and someone new, because it is and she is, in that hypothetical, despite some similarities that may happen to exist.

We don't live in the old testament.

Did Jesus Rescind that rule somewhere in the NT... you know, like he did the dietary restrictions? Or did He let it stand?

Not sure why this is a newsworthy development, or why anyone would care about it.

I'm not sure why it is described as "Having an Affair"..
Anyone?

this is neither "creepy" nor unusual...
Everyone has their own personal "ick factor"... but we should all own our own... getting upset with someone else for not sharing your ick factor or requiring society have the same ick factor across the board isn't realistic.

Nobody gets to decide for you what you think is "icky" so you shouldn't think you can decide what anyone else should find icky..

If something two (or 1) ((or 3 etc...)) consenting adults do creeps you out, it may just be an indicator that you have some personal work to do In that area.

It's not anyone else's responsibility to make sure what they do with each other doesn't make you feel yucky just for knowing (or thinking you know) what it is they are Doing.

Since this is a Catholic forum and the Biden family is Catholic should not there be info whether there has been a decree of nullity for Hunter and Kathleen?
Former Vice President Joe Biden added that he and his wife Dr. Jill Biden have given their blessing to the relationship.
Hmmm, no info there just their statement.
