He always does, I mean he is Irish and a large number of the flock is.
It is our tradition. He would be done if he didn't.

It is tradition to have a corn beef feast, parade and pack the bars, politics is always in the air.



“Given the importance of this feast in the life of the archdiocese and in the lives of so many of our families, I am granting a dispensation from the Friday Lenten abstinence on March 17, 2017, to those who wish to take advantage of this opportunity,” he wrote. He added that Catholics who do should consider another sacrifice or act of charity to make up for it.

A Bishop would be "done" if he didn't grant a special dispensation for the laity to eat meat on this day? It was nice of him to do this, but I have to believe that practicing Catholics would respect his decision whichever way he decided to go.



Mike no need to be so dour. I said it in partial jest. But a Cardinal in Boston these days would never say no, especially one named Seán Patrick O'Malley.
