Trust in God, Not ourselves

2 Corinthians 1:9
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

We can lead ourselves astray by trusting in ourselves, and our own earthly desires.

James 1:14-17
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

God never changes! He's always the same we are without excuse. God has given us His Word, and the Holy Spirit to teach and guide us so that we may know the truth. We should read His Word for ourselves seeking guidance from the Holy Spirit.

Trust in God, Not others

Jeremiah 9:4
Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

Psalms 118:8
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

Psalms 118:9
It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

Micah 7:5
Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

We need to seek our answers from the Lord, not those around us. When we seek answers from those around us instead of looking at what Gods Word clearly tells us, we are seeking our own truth, in order to make excuses for our own earthly desires.

Trust in God, Not the things of this world

Psalms 62:10
Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.

Psalms 44:6
For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

1 Timothy 6:17-19
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

It's so easy to take our eyes of the Lord and start trusting in our jobs, money, ways of the world, etc... we must be ever so careful not to do this. When we do we only cause ourselves needless worry and grief.

Psalms 34:22
The Lord redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

When troubles hit just remember the Lord knows what He's doing, and trust in Him to see you through.

Psalms 37:5
Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Thanks Cherylq, and Altya.

Sometimes God will give us a bit of insight as to something He is going to do. If we look through our own eyes we might see a situation that looks rather dim, or even impossible and start to worry about it. Instead of just trusting in what He has already told us. May we learn to forever just place our trust in Him.
