Hi, after a bit of browsing I decided to make an account and join the Christian Forums. So I've become a Christian quite recently -- within the past year. My entire family I would say was raised Buddhist. Going to temple and whatnot just felt like something I had to do because my other relatives went.
My transition to Christianity started on a study abroad trip when I went to Australia. One of my good classmates invited me to go to a church with her one day. At first I was kind of skeptical if it would be a good thing for me to attend a service with her. I had been to church probably once or twice in my life previously and was really freaked out because I was lost and had no idea what was happening. However, I decided to attend regularly while I was there and I would say that it was one of the best decisions of my life. Everyone seemed so warm, welcoming, and inviting. I was sure surprised.
But what really got me thinking about becoming a Christian were the sermons that were being delivered every Sunday morning. I thought the messages that the pastor delivered to the whole congregation were definitely relevant in our everyday lives and I thought to myself that everything made a lot more sense. God is always there for us and everyday we experience God's love in different ways. For most of my life I had thought that I was alone in so many things and just knowing this comforted me so much. I also loved the amount of support that the people had in the church when we would pray for others as well. I even joined a Bible study group while I was there. It was so much fun getting to know other people while learning more about Jesus and developing that relationship with God.
There's still a lot that I don't know but I've been reading my Bible and praying to God so just getting to talk with him and looking at life in a different way than I had been in the past has been really fulfilling for me.
Anyway I look forward to meeting you all.
