Well the fires of Sodom and Gomorrah was literal and God said that the distruction that took place there will be an example of what will happen to the ungodly.
The literal fires of Sodom and Gomorrah were not "eternal" or very long lasting, but the spiritual metaphorical fire where the citizens went were or are...

It was an example, both literally and metaphorically, but the two are different...

So what the unrighteous will face after the final judgement is both a literal and a metaphorical fire? One that is going to be temporary and one that will be eternal?

So you really believe that the unrighteous will inherit eternal life?
Eternal "death" not "life"...

A perpetual dying over and over and over again, they will wish to cease to exist, but will not be able to... A place with a complete lack of any kind of comfort or peace... A much, much, very different kind of existence than the eternal life, as in the feeling of being "alive" and truly "living", that scriptures refer to as eternal life...

God Bless!

That doesn't add up. You cannot be dying over and over unless you are being resurrected over and over. If they wish to cease to exist that mean they are not dying.

So how do you interpret when the bible says that death and hell we both cast into the lake of fire. There shouldn't be any more hell just as the bible says there will be no more death.

A "feeling" of perpetual death or dying, but not a literal dying over and over, but the "feeling" of it perpetually, known as the second or spiritual death, it is not literally like the first, but feels perpetually like the first, only, you don't literally die...

I believe it is a perpetual internal "burning" like your soul or spirit continuously being discontented, and unsettled, and unhappy, weeping and gnashing of teeth, complete lack and absence of any kind of "peace", that is "eternal"...

Proverbs 10:7
The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.
Ecclesiastes 9:5
For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Isaiah 26:14
They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.
Psalm 115:17
The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence.

Those in hell have suffered the second death correct?

If the above question is answered in the affirmative how do you explain the verses quoted above?

Hades which is temporary and earthly is done away with in exchange for the lake of fire, which is like Hades but is eternal and outside the gates of the heavenly...

No one can literally die after that, so, death and Hades are done away with...

Their is still a chance for a person to be redeemed out of Hades, while it exists, but, afterward, no more chances... Christ went there for three days and, while it doesn't specifically say this part, probably was able to save some and take them with him, when he ascended afterward...

God Bless!

You have just quoted the serpent

Ok so they are really alive eternally being made to feel as if they are dying over and over again.

Well I think we will need to agree to disagree because I definitely cannot agree with this. This entire explanation about perpetual death and dying over and over is not something I have ever seen in the bible. How would you explain passages like this:

Mal 4:1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
Mal 4:2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.
Mal 4:3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Based on your understanding the wicked never perish.

Not all get an eternal existence, some do simply "cease to exist" after this first death, but some, who all each one have comprehended and understood the message of Jesus Christ and the Gospel, the ones who have done this, (understood and comprehended, and knew, the "truth"), yet reject it in their heart, are the ones who go to Hades, and, after that, the eternal lake of fire for that...

While the ones who knew the truth, yet did not reject it, but accepted it and embraced it, will go to heaven...

"Some" do not... Jesus said it as well, by the way... That's where I got it from... Is he a serpent or the serpent for telling people they would not die if they believed in him...?

Ok, i don't want to keep going back and forth but I find this really interesting how you are explaining this. Never heard anything explain it quite like this.

I gotta ask you. When the resurrection happens we know that the righteous are given immortal and incorruptible bodies. When the unrighteous are resurrected, they would then have to be given immortal bodies also right? Because human beings are mortal and subject to death and the bible says the only person who is immortal is God. So at the resurrection, God will have to also give the wicked immortal bodies.

The truth is love I believe, and those who know that in their heart, but harden, or deaden their hearts to love and reject love, and become cold, callous, cruel, those who knew this truth and did this anyway, rejected love, when they knew better, go to Hades and afterward, the lake of fire... While the others do not, that did not (do that) (but did the opposite) go to heaven...

I know this, cause I stand at the brink, on the ledge of this, right now...

I have an important choice to make, and it may determine my eternal destiny... Having recently been severely hurt by Love, and being a little afraid of it... Will I harden my heart, myself against it...? Become cold, callous, and cruel...? Or, will I accept it, and not reject it, and let it in, and embrace it, and be warm, caring, kind and loving, regardless of how I've been hurt...?

I cannot undo, not knowing "the truth", or go back to innocence, I know, and I have an important vital choice to make...

God Bless!

I know what you mean, heard plenty myself. BUT NO DONT GET ME WRONG.....I dont think or want to hear it every week at all. Im referring to the fact that you totally do not hear it anymore.....nowhere.

I have to report what some others are saying here in that I heard it quite a bit growing up. Now, that may be due to the fact that I grew up in the Bible belt, I'm not sure. Though, hell preaching has never done anything positive for me personally and I haven't seen it have a positive affect on people in the way that most people speculate it should. For me, I think that educating people about hell is good, but the strong focus should be on individual discipleship. This seems to be what's missing nowadays. I've been to so many churches and denominations and have yet to really see this, so I keep moving on. Don't get me wrong, hell is hell and people should know about it and their sin, but if you bash people to near death with it they will rebel like an angry teenager. Doesn't make sense, because you'd think it does the opposite, but still.
