Trump is booting out many of the career politicians and replacing them with people who actually have worked for a living.

Like DeVos, who has no meaningful experience in relation to public schools? LOL.

Exactly. It's the teacher's unions and the education establishment that have destroyed our public education system. Our education system has been in a steady decline ever since Jimmy Carter created the Dept. of Education.

Renegotiating treaties is not violating agreements.

Nowhere did he suggest renegotiating treaties. He mentioned establishing trade barriers to make it more expensive for foreign companies to sell and taxing companies that go overseas and sell back into the US (a preferential tax discriminating against what is, now, a foreign corporation). Both of those are violations of either Article II or III of the GATT.

In addition, if I'm a US company that offshores to, for example, Canada and then establish a US subsidiary to sell into the US, if you create a discriminatory tax on such entities I'd have a Chapter 11 claim against the US government directly.

Now you could renegotiate the various trade deals... to a degree. You likely can't renegotiate GATT considering the sheer number of parties. So your option would be to leave the WTO... which would completely devastate the US economy.

Chapter 11 you could work around if you renegotiate NAFTA - but the US has universally demanded ISDS provisions in its free trade agreements (and with good reason - the US is almost always the primary beneficiary as a capital intensive country). Precisely how would you renegotiate the agreements? Which parts of GATT would you remove or modify (by article number - including proposed changes)? What articles of NAFTA would you keep? How would you adjust the RoO? What would you give the other countries in exchange for these concessions?

That said, I'd still like to engage with the underlying point. I think we can agree the plans, with treaties as they are, would be vioaltions of the various agreements the US has in place.

So I'd like to know if you have any conception of what agreements need to be amended and how, and what the US will have to give up to get those concessions.

I'm actually a free trade advocate, but I want our trade deals to be fairly administered.

Can I get what you mean by "fairly administered". Is it a matter of reciprocity in the agreement itself? Rules of Origin? Dumping?

Intel just announced that it will move ahead with a new plant in Arizona that probably was never going to move ahead with. And that will result in at least 10,000 American jobs.
Intel has always made almost all of their products here in the US. There has been problems with Intel in the past.

Intel has been criticized in conservative publications such as Breitbart, for laying off thousands of staffers, despite an influx of visa requests.

Intel to invest $7 billion in factory in Arizona, employ 3,000

So DeVos is perfect for the job: she can deliver the killing blow.

He told it like it was. Straight shooter, wasn't PC, didn't pull punches. It's exactly what is wanted in Washington, someone who won't bow down to the Press and will stand up to their lies. America First. Make America Great again.

Apparently she's already having an educational impact on her boss. He thinks that 306 is greater than 426!

Who knew...?

It's greater than 370, too. :sigh:

Ah yes, but in the same vein as Truman's 'buck stopping here', Donnie was unfortunately misled by "someone" giving him those numbers. It wasn't his fault! Bad staff! Not fair!

When media repeats something that they were told and state that it is something they were told, it is 'fake news'.
When Pres. Trump repeats something he is told and states it is something he was told.....hmm...what is it, 'fake information', 'alternate facts', what?

AMEN.

I also can't help but wonder where all this concern for truth and honesty in the media was when Fox was lying about Obama.

Remember when they said Obama was on a trip that cost $200 million a day? I remember that.

It's officially classified in the 'Sumbuddy Else's Fault' file....
