I did one year's study of classical guitar. Just two of the problems I encountered:
1) getting fingernails long enough 2) rest stroke

Fingernail length and shape are definitely a pain in the neck. Especially if the guitar being played isn't of the best quality. At this stage of the game I really don't care all that much anymore. So I don't strive to keep them meticulously trimmed. There is one classical guitar player who uses fake nails simply to avoid the hassle. I never did get the knack of rest strokes. Perhaps because I am self-taught and needed constant drilling in the fine nuances of their usage? But since I play for my own amusement that doesn't bother me at all as long as the piece sounds reasonably decent..

I teach cello & piano! I also play the violin & guitar. I used to play the clarinet.
Are you familiar with David Garrett or 2Cellos?

I love them both.

Keeping up with my hick nature, I play the banjo.
Also know how to play the harmonica, and the violin.

Was learning piano, but I snapped a few fingers, never got em treated, and they don't move like they used to.
Can still play it, it's just a lot harder.

Lol, I think of banjos as being hipster bc of bands like Mumford & Sons. I've never thought of them as being hick. I like how they sound. I think they'd be fun to play but I've never played one.

That's a bummer you snapped fingers & didn't get them treated. :( You're my age I think, you're way too young to not be able to play piano bc of your fingers. Our pianist at church had to stop playing but she's in her late 80s! She has arthritis in her fingers.

I'm 17.

And banjos have definitely become more hipster nowadays, they sound really nice.
And are actually quite easy to learn I feel.

Sorry I wasn't online earlier. I have my PM set so that I can't receive messages, but I'll send on to you.

Do you use WhatsApp? This guy in the teen section made a group there. I can't join it bc my mom doesn't want my number revealed to strangers but maybe you could join it if you want. I'll send the link to you. :)

I was wondering, what instruments do you girls and guys play? I play the piano, the trumpet, and I sing (I guess the voice is an instrument).

I major on 5-string, and play Autoharp, Guitar and Bass according to need.

New to this club.

Primary instruments (proficient enough I could give lessons): Bass Guitar / Drums.
Secondary instruments (give me a week to work on songs): Electric Guitar / Acoustic Guitar / Vocals (I'm OK, but not great)

If I practiced a few weeks, saxophone. Just haven't done it in a while.

Guitar, piano, and a little dobro; sing a bit as well.

Well I have learned something very useful in this thread. I will never be learning to play the classical guitars cause I HATE having fingernails lol Long ones I mean, they're still there of course.... *looks around nervously* **typed that out cause the smilies don't work**

As for instruments, I play guitar, bass, drums, and keyboards, though I'm not too proficient on keys, still I've learned to do what's necessary for my songs. Instruments I don't understand?
Harmonica, how the heck does anyone make a good sound with one of those things, I blow and it's sounds like a slinky is broken and this is how it cries. And wind instruments, the same sound is made when I blow on a trumpet as when I blow on a wooden stick. So... if any of you play those instruments, just know... I'm onto you....

I played the violin for 10 years when I was in school. I was never great, but I enjoyed being in the school orchestra and playing in concerts.
Nice! I started violin in school orchestra but I became a hardcore violin junkie and never quit since then. Do you remember what pieces you played?
