I don't buy it.
I don't think so. They MAY get a pay out if it actually crosses their land but that is a one time thing, not royalties. Sheesh... if that were true my grandpa and our family would be very wealthy people. He received a one time pay out for the interstate going through his ranch. And my uncle got a one time pay out when the gas line went through his ranch. If it's going through their land, it is going through their land... Just like a freeway, or a canal, or any other big infrastructure project. That;s what eminent domain is for. Being sovereign, unlike you or me, the tribe will get royalties.
I'm at a point, since this won't happen where I live. Why should I care about the possibility of leakage happening and contaminating my air or water. Now if it happens on Indian grounds. That's another issue.
One only gets royalties if they own the mineral rights and it is taken from under their property. The royalties are based on the amount of minerals, oil, etc. that are removed. It is commerce crossing their land. there will be a long term lease and royalties. watch and see.
Personally speaking, I care about the possibility of leakage happening and contaminating the air and water for other people, even if an oil spill does not happen where I live. I care how the leakage will affect the people, particularly children, who live in the area of the spill and whose water will be contaminated. I care about the environment being protected and preserved for future generations of children to come. I care how an oil spill will affect the animals and other living creatures living in the area of the spill. I care about the land and the water. I care about how an oil spill will severely damage the environment.
Please read carefully. I did not say 'only'.It is certainly not only being built on American soil.

yeah...I mean who cares about facts and reality, lets just keep spreading the same lies to justify damaging the country when we should be focusing on things other then dirty oil.
There is nothing cheaper than oil. Of course we should tap it. And it doesn't 'damage the country' any more than logging does, or mining does, or trapping does, or farming does, or ranching does... We make our money that way. That's our jobs.
And unless you're walking everywhwere, living in a mud hut and eating grass, you're part of the problem
Love Canada Dry.I care about America using up all of Canada's resources, treating us like the great American attic.
Canada Dry is best a name for a gingerale.
Why should I mention Canada when I'm talking about pollution in the US?It sounded to me as if you implied 'only.'
Yeah, I mean not like climate change is harming the country or anything,
and you know what oil isn't going to last forever, this oil isn't going to help anyone, just harm the country but who cares.
'climate change is nonsense.
riiight, the ol peak oil argument... More baloney.
Peak oil is a fact. The earth isn't making oil a quickly as we're using it. At some point, we will run out or at least reach a point where the lifting cost will be prohibitively expensive.
Do you understand what a contract is? Do you understand what a sovereign nation it? Do you understand what a treaty is? The government of the United States signed a contract with the legal first inhabitants of that. It was called a Peace Treaty. This Treaty created a sovereign nation that is not a part of the Unites States but resides within the United States. That land is their own country. A sovereign nation with a right to exist unmolested by the corporations of America. Donald J Trump is committing a criminal act by breaking the treaties that have been established since the1800's. This criminal act is another link in the white supremacist chain that is fastened to this country's government which will always seek to marginalize people of color and especially the indigenous people that are the original inhabitants of this land. This country owes themmore land, not pollution and destruction of the land of their ancestorsThere is nothing cheaper than oil. Of course we should tap it. And it doesn't 'damage the country' any more than logging does, or mining does, or trapping does, or farming does, or ranching does... We make our money that way. That's our jobs.
