Psalter?

OK, so here is a question with an answer that is probably subjective, but I'll ask it anyway. The Psalter has been at the core of my prayer life for years as an Episcopalian and then as an Anglican and I'd obviously like to keep the Psalter in my prayer life as I come into Orthodoxy. That being said, I have been using the Psalter in The Book of Common Prayer - that is, the Coverdale. I'd like to get an Orthodox Psalter that's based on the LXX. It seems that the majority of people I talk to or read online recommend the Psalter According to the Seventy but that there is also a growing fan base for A Psalter for Prayer. Both come in full-size and pocket editions, but I guess I'm wondering if the former version makes the most sense because it's the most prevalent or if the latter would make more sense because it is essentially a "corrected" (conforming to the LXX) version of the Coverdale Psalter, which is what I've been praying as long as I can remember.

Any advice? I'm sure there are other Psalters, but these two are the ones that I hear about the most frequently.

The Psalter I personally use is the 'Psalter according to the Seventy' published by the Archdiocese of Canada of the OCA

It comes from The WORDsmith Westport Ontario ISBN is 0-9688818-0-7

It's beautifully laid out and to quote a Diak friend, who is now a Deacon , the translation is 'utterly chantable'

and very easy to use. I do a lot of typing for my GodPapa and he just needs to ask me to type out a particular Kathisma for him and I've no problems so doing.

Despite A Psalter for Prayer being "corrected", I prefer its translation for use in prayer, as it flows better for me considering the familiarity to the flow of words (I'm a convert as well). That said, I've heard great things about the other as well!

To be honest, this is the direction I'm leaning since it will essentially be the translation I'm used to, but arranged for Orthodox usage.

Sometimes I stumble on words when it is in a translation I don't know well, which tends to distract me...so if it is arranged for Orthodox use anyways, I figure I will take advantage of it! The extra prayers are beautiful in it as well.

personally, the Psalter that I use is one from Holy Transfiguration in Boston. not in the Church but they make some good stuff

Honestly, LXX vs Hebrew is not a live-or-die issue. So if you don't want to give up the Coverdale, just go for it.

A Psalter for Prayer has nice features, which are common to the Slavonic psalters on which it is based. For example, it includes the correct version of the Athanasian Creed (which according to Metropolitan Kallistos Ware appears also in Greek Horologia).

That is the one I use. It was a gift, and I've not used any other, but I like it.

Yeah, they make some good stuff. Related is my wife's great uncle did a translation of his own that I use

Awesome to be able to do the translating ... people with that much fluency in Biblical languages are blessed.

Anyone used the Pocket Edition of the Psalter for Prayer?

I have the Pocket Edition for the Psalter for Prayer and I like it a lot. The text is very readable for me. It is about the same size of text as the instructional parts in the back of the Jordanville Prayer Book on page 398. The translation flows smoothly as well.

Also note that Ancient Faith Press is publishing a new psalter - but it's a modern text rather than an archaic text like the Coverdale.
