Oh ok you seem a bit stubborn, its not really an issue with the bible but you.
Cant help you there.
Many bibles already have Jesus word in red, if you ignore what Jesus says nobody can actually help you.

Not being stubborn at all. I even proposed a solution or in your rush to accuse me of stubbornness and ignoring Jesus did you miss that?

As for Bibles with Jesus's words in red, you are correct. However, I read a Catholic Bible and I cannot go out and purchase another one and so far no online versions of the Catholic Bible have His words in red. Besides, I can distinguish His words from other's words and don't really need an aid such as red letters.

I have read it through three times and have read many books well beyond that amount of time (proverbs for example as I read a chapter a day throughout the month). I just don't have the motivation to want to read it again. It's just the same thing over and over again. After hearing it in church and reading it so much, I just want to take a long break from it.

I have tried different versions, listening to it in the car and praying to God that he would get me excited once more to read His word. Yet, I 'm still blah about it.

Is taking a break from reading the Bible okay to do?

*edit: I am still reading it, but it's a huge struggle. I have been like this for a few months now.

I think reading the bible only is over rated
We tend to get mindsets and miss lots of things because we approach the bible the wrong way

Bruxy Cavey has a few good blogs, I like to listen to them.
Maybe find some blogs that suit you and listen to different perspectives
Maybe a bible study

Yves I Bing Cheng from Taiwan, blog meetingwithchrist, good teacher, just listen

Remember, before it was written it was spoken, the written bible didn't show up for many years

Few good spoken bible YouTube videos, almost like a play, try them

Your own words condemns you when you said you dont need help. Sorry. Why ask for advice if you arent going to heed it? Who cares if you catholic? GOd doesnt.

You do know that I can ask for advice, but I don't need to follow it exactly down to the letter, right?

Something was mentioned and it sparked the idea that I can read a devotional instead of the Bible because I will still be reading scripture, just not whole chapters of it. So, in essence my asking for advice allowed me to come up with an idea.

Just recently learned that our spirits believe The Word (John 6:36). So no matter how we're feeling/thinking we can saturate our spirits with more of G_d's Word. There's audio Bibles at Biblegateway.com.

THANKS for your post! Lots of folks will make use of those links!

Hi Nano...
I could say, "Been there, done that", but I won't...and I don't know your background, but since I was also raised Catholic; let me ask:
.....1. Have you been born again??
and 2. Why are you reading the Bible?

How does that verse show that ?
It says "(KJV) 36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. "

Thank you all for your responses.

As I mentioned I have found a solution and am already doing exactly that.
Smaller chunks and an inspirational message at the end with a prayer seems to be what I needed. I will continue with this for a while and perhaps around the first of the year start reading the Bible by chapters once again.

Thank you again!
