I've been on a "no-fasting-allowed" rule for so long that I sometimes forget now.

I had over two years like that - wow returning to fasting was difficult - and I can still slip up

Two years? Wow. Well, I had about a half year in 2015. I had to stop halfway through Lent, skipped Apostles and Dormition, and had permission for Nativity and Great Lent 2016. It was surprisingly easy to start again. I fear maybe this time it won't be easy for me to start back. I guess I will see when it happens. I actually miss having more structure and discipline in my life - looking for ways to build that in to reach personal goals anyway.

My favorite is fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, fresh oregano, lots of chopped garlic, and either sliced tomatoes or marinaded shrimp. Homemade pizza crust is best!

I think he would have, some people just are not able to recognize their own limitations, who buck at any authority that is placed over them, who hate any restrictions on their whims
his list of complaints would have been different
but he would have been a force for destruction and sin no matter what age he was born in

That doesn't describe Luther accurately. For one thing, he had already shown himself obedient to his religious order and his superiors. For another, he did NOT want to leave the Catholic Church but was essentially expelled. And he did show himself to have a high sense of responsibility to God and other mortals. Talk of "whims" and the like really misses the character of Martin Luther.

I struggle with no meat on Fridays during Lent. It was eye-opening to realize how central meat is to my diet. I've figured out some workarounds to comply with the Friday fast from meat: bean burritos, different sandwiches and the obligatory cheese pizza.

Lent is tough when you're a carnivore.
