Well, I used to think an education was important, that it helped you get ahead, and made you a more knowledgeable person so you could better make informed decisions. But after being on this forum for a month or two, I've come to realize that all an education does is make you an "elitist". I'm not 100% sure what is meant by the term, but I'm pretty sure it isn't a good thing. So yeah, I've learned that a higher education is actually a form of indoctrination, and big negative in your life.

Not only that, if you look around, you'll see Trumpites praising each other for their lack of education. Somehow, for wome reason, it was decided that ignorance is close to godliness.

Most manufacturing jobs pay pretty well.

If they paid well, they wouldn't be overseas to make use of cheaper labor.

Are you thinking that these factories that pay well below our minimum wage in other countries, will be brought over here, and will suddenly be able to pay $20 an hour? That simply isn't feasible.

Your view of economics seems to be that the rich supply wealth that trickles down. That is a false view. Wealth is created by the supply and demand cycle.

If there is demand, supply will expand. Since supply employees people that buy things this increases demand. Thus the cycle goes.

The problem is that supply side economics (trickle down) works on the faulty assumption that if a stimulus is made to supply side that it will invest in ways that boost demand. But that assumption is based on the faulty notion that supply side will invest without a demand reason to. As a result most supply side stimulus is never invested in ways that boost demand.

In contrast nearly all of demand side stimulus goes to boost supply side thus priming the pump.

That may work in a primitive economy but here demand is actually created by the supply side through advertising and limiting choices. For example there is a huge demand for low cost housing but there is little supply, and less is forthcoming. Those that 'supply' housing aren't interested in filling that 'demand'. Same with crack cocaine. No one demanded it until a supply was introduced. Same with smart phones. No one demanded smart phones until they were supplied by the manufacturers.

Supply and demand does work in established markets however, not so much in new markets. That's what test marketing is for, to determine whether a market can be developed where there is no demand.

One of the our problems is that as we try to get to the bottom of our economic problems we discover that there is no bottom.

Perhaps another is making apparently confident statements on certain subjects, but only being able to offer vague platitudes when asked to explain them?

The companies went overseas because their labor costs were too high.

There's no 'explaining' to someone doesn't accept the explanation. :D

1 Samuel 8:4-6:
Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah,
And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
But the thing displeased Samuel
, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

The telivision masses said "WE DEMAND A KING...WE DONT CARE WHAT GOD SAYS!!!".

1 Samuel 8:7:
And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

1 Samuel 8:11-13:
And he said, This will be the manner of the king that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and appoint them for himself, for his chariots, and to be his horsemen; and some shall run before his chariots.
And he will appoint him captains over thousands, and captains over fifties; and will set them to ear his ground, and to reap his harvest, and to make his instruments of war, and instruments of his chariots.
And he will take your daughters to be confectionaries, and to be cooks, and to be bakers.
And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your oliveyards, even the best of them, and give them to his servants.

Now we both know the "why's" are endless in an effort to paint others into a corner. If you don't get what I'm saying from what I've already said you never will. :D

They all say they are patriotic Americans, claim to want what's best for America, and then they tell one of the greatest Americans of all time that he doesn't know what he's talking about:

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.
Thomas Jefferson

At least the immigrants coming to the USA treasure a good education. They place a huge importance on making sure their kids do well at school, and get a post secondary education. Those kids will be running the USA in a short while, and that will help immensely.

Yes. Especially compared to labor overseas. So what makes you think that manufacturing jobs that come to our shores will be high-paying?

Remember, the people who want these jobs in the U.S. have nothing more to offer than someone in Mexico, China, Malaysia or Vietnam, but want about 50 times more money.

You are more than welcome to take on the role of poster boy for the gleefully ignorant if you want.

This mantle is available? Who has it now?

We have to pay higher wages in order to maintain our standard of living. That's what many corporations seem to be unaware of, or simply don't care about. It's just corporate greed (helped along by greedy stockholders).

Your view of demand is incredibly faulty.

First advertising does not increase demand, it increases market share.

Second demand is present in the absence of supply. People didn't want smartphones because they were invented, smartphones were invented because people wanted them.

If your view of demand were correct no product would ever fail. By creating demand would appear to make it viable. We know that the is not true. We know that products fail or succeed based on whether demand for it drives price above or below the cost to produce it. In other words, demand, not supply, is the pump in the supply-demand cycle.
