Many of us have a calling. A calling is something God would have us do, because we are very capable, and able to do it well, and for great betterment, Because Of How We Are.

The chosen, are tasked to do something, God told them to do something, despite certain things about their character.

It is not a matter of salvation, or ego, it is what we are told to do because of our ability, or told to do simply because it's what God wants.

Example, I was called to worship, and I'm not too bad at it. I don't recall being chosen for anything.

I agree with your understanding of this verse. Too many people relate it to salvation which is not correct. [emoji106]

This scripture also refers to the marriage supper of the lamb. Many are raptured, few are given salvation.

Both of my interpretations are correct by the holy spirit.

What specifically are you speAking of when you talk of rapture and salvation?

Please include supporting verses.

Interesting, because I was in a men's retreat many years ago when this scripture came up. I felt like the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart too, but with different words. He said; "Those who are called are Christians who are to make themselves chosen vessels." Never even hearing such a concept, I was shocked and didn't know what to do, because this was before smart phones. So I had to wait until I got home to check out my Strong's which said;

Matthew 22:14 For many are called/kletos, but few are chosen/eklektos.

Strong's Concordance 2822 Kletos, invited, i.e. appointed, or (spec.) a saint:-called.

So I checked it also in a Bauer, Arndt, Ginrich Greek Lexicon of mine which defines Kletos as SAINTS also.

So then I checked on the word "chosen/eklektos and found this definition among its definitions

Strong's 1588 eklektos {ek-lek-tos'} from 1586
(1) picked out, chosen
(1.a) chosen by God,
(1.a.1) to obtain salvation through Christ
(1.a.1.a) Christians are called "chosen or elect" of God
(1.a.2) the Messiah in called "elect", as appointed by God to the most exalted office conceivable
(1.a.3) choice, select, i.e. the best of its kind or class, excellence preeminent, applied to certain individual Christians

As for your "raptured, few are given salvation" thoughts, I'm thinking differently....way differently, and these resources even back up what I believe the holy spirit said to me. ;)

I must admit I am confused also now. The verse was taken from a parable which I believe is talking about us being vessels sent out by the son to invite all to come to Jesus and preach the good news of salvation by grace.

Can everyone input there thoughts a little clearer. I think I agree with Hilsage but I want to be sure.

In my opinion,

The bible says one thing, and the holy spirit says another thing, both of which are correct, because the holy spirit says it.
People are very good at deciphering the words in the bible for their true meaning, but I can't really do that, except for one word at a time as I go along learning things.

So Hillsage's input is probably invaluable

more important is to contribute to the overall salvation in the true Lord God, because if we do it, then we will be at least approved/accepted by Him, even if not all of us are chosen

Romans 14:17-19 "the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy(i.e. and grace, also a true content(ment)) in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."

Blessings

Facinating thread. Reminds me of a study of The Tabernacle I read a couple of years ago. There were hints in it about how The Lord sometimes pulls a child of God aside and places them under tremendous pressure for a time in preparation for a specific work.
I'm going to have to look for that study and read it again . Perhaps I'll uncover something that belongs on this thread. Thank you, op.

I am "chosen" and Matthew 21:28-31, applies to me...

God Bless!
