Salaam alaikum to my Muslim friends here. It's been a week since I returned from Palestine and Israel and it is good to be here again.
If you (or anyone else reading) is interested in seeing the work I was doing in the West Bank, please feel free to see the following: www.workingforjustice123.blogspot.com

I have a question about ayah 7 in surah 99. For context, I will paste the whole chapter and then ask it. There is 99% chance it will be followed up by more questions, just saying and thank you in advance for your patience y'all. :)

99

1 When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake.

2 And when the earth throws out its burdens.

3 And man will say: "What is the matter with it?"

4 That Day it will declare its information (about all that happened over it of good or evil).

5 Because your Lord will inspire it.

6 That Day mankind will proceed in scattered groups that they may be shown their deeds.

7 So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant) shall see it.

8 And whosoever does evil equal to the weight of an atom (or a small ant) shall see it.

What does it mean "shall see it" in regards to the person who does the good deed?

Are verses 7 and 8 about Muslims only or everyone? (I assume "mankind" means everyone but wanted to be sure).

Many thanks!

As-Salāmu ‘Alaykum, my friend.

Great to see you back safe and sound. Oh, and there’s a 100% certainty that more questions will follow, knowing you!

Al-Zalzala is concerned with the Day of Judgement.

‘When the earth is shaken violently in its (last) quaking, when the earth throws out its burdens, when man cries: “What is happening to it?”; on that Day, it will tell all because your Lord will inspire it (to do so). On that Day, people will come forward in separate groups to be shown their deeds: whoever has done an atom’s-weight of good will see it, but whoever has done an atom’s-weight of evil will see that.’ (Al-Zalzala: 1-8).

The words ‘will see it/that’ are a reference to the fact that on the Day everyone will be made aware of the deeds – both good and bad – that they have committed. Everyone.

Compare:

‘When the sun is shrouded in darkness, when the stars are dimmed, when the mountains are set in motion, when pregnant camels are abandoned, when wild beasts are herded together, when the seas boil over, when souls are sorted into classes, when the baby girl buried alive is asked for what sin she was killed, ** when the records of deeds are spread open, when the sky is stripped away, when Hell is made to blaze and Paradise brought near: then every soul will know what it has brought about.’ (Al-Takwir: 1-14).

** A reference to the pagan Arab habit of female infanticide.

Question time!!

Have a great weekend, and very best regards.

Paul

Salam TG. Yes it refers to everyone, muslims and nonmuslims as well. Allah is just. Even if you consider yourself a nonmuslim Allah will look at your heart and judge accordingly regardless of what you or other people identify you with something.
