I mean like if someone had a vision or even a dream and believed it was from God himself.

I agree. I wish non-Mormons and Mormons would refrain from laughing about serious topics. I don't think religous beliefs are the least bit funny.

One thing Mormonism has done for me being my wife is what they call a convert is for me to explore Mormonism . ( then other religions and beliefs )
So I leaned a bunch of stuff very fast and while doing so also learned that what I believed need to be reexamined .
Not that my beliefs had not changed over the years but since learning that going by the Greek some of what I believed was not as correct as I thought it was.

We don't have to ask God for truth. If we have been given the gift of faith in Christ, we are also indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

Mormon theology:
