I am posting a question to everyone; not to be given over to debate, but rather to stir the senses, and find out where we stand with our trust and love for God.

What would you do?

Imagine that the future (in your lifetime) brought forth dreadful times; suicide bombings were here in America, terrorism was in every city, every town; Islam became implanted in our society above Christianity, and the government changed from freedom to hard law.

And during this time, all that we came to love about living in this great nation, brought us to hate.

Imagine that our future president blasphemied God.
Imagine that our government took God out of everything; currency, the constitution.
Imagine that the worship of Islam was law, and those who opposed it, were imprisoned or killed.
Imagine that everything we worked for, and paid for, could be taken from us and given over to "them".
Imagine the ONLY WAY to keep our home/belongings in this nation, was to pledge our alligeince to the New Islamic government, and deny Christ.
Would you?

Is this really an impossible thought, when the bible tells us christians shall be persecuted by satan; and what better way to enforce the worship of anti-christ, but through our own pockets?

I would hope that I would have the strength to walk away from my home, my belongings, and stand up for Christ, if that time should ever come.

I wrote this because I have not seen this type of question asked; HOW MUCH OF A PART OF THIS WORLD ARE WE? and I feel it is important to test ourselves in our minds, so that we know our own strengths and weaknesses with God.

Thank you, Wildfire

You are touching on the part about "watch and be ready". You could have to walk away from it all at any given moment, not just because of the extreme example you've given, but maybe you lose your job and can't find another, etc. I am willing to die for what I believe in and only God can give me the strength to do so successfully. As for your particular scenario, it really wouldn't suprise me. I know anything is possible from our history to the end of the good Book, so I will detach myself from my current lifestyle when God lets me know it's time to do so.

Yeh I guess something like that will come sooner or later Wildfire , I think we all know enough of the bible to know not to bow down to any false Gods or idols , so I believe when the time comes many christians may surprise themselves and find a strength they may not have thought they had and be able to do things they never thought possible .

I think the fact that we know in advance what is comming will be a great help to many of us when it comes , I honestly believe many christians will gain strength in their belief when they see prophecy unravel before their eyes . ( How could we not believe! )

wow everyone thanks for the honesty, I was worried this post might offend or upset some, because it is not something you want to have to think about...but, I agree with what braindamage said; those who study prophecy will recognize the time when it comes.

Often, when I am driving through my community, I see people going about their lives, and I wonder if they know. It makes me think of what God said to Jonah when he did not destroy that city; should he not spare them, who could not discern their right hand from their left?

Who are we then, the select few who study prophecy; are we the watchers? To give the shout when the time comes?

It makes me wonder; is this something we choose to do, or is it something we are meant to do.

Not the first time I thought about, and I still get a little misty eyed when I do think about it, but the fear, pain and sorrow I may feel while being made to suffer for not bowing down will pale in comparison to the joy and love and anticipation of Christ's return. I know I could not have said this 2-3 years ago, but since becoming a Christian I am greatful that I will know what is happening and how it will end.

It might go that way...and if it does the shame will be it was brought about by the liberals, pc set, etc....who, by the way will be the first to scream like banshees when a new regime takes their cars or whatever....as I've said here before, I dont want to live undr a totalitarian regime because a bunch of dreamers really thought the people proposing world peace were serious and let themselves get duped, big time!

right now the Islamic faith is growing but I have one of those gut hunches that the Lord just might step in and "level the playing field" - ahem! It ain't the Moslems that are the Chosen People....

The following have been taken from a book titled "Ultimate Things" by D. E. Engleman

"It is of no consequence where you are in the world - you who are not of the world."  Tertullian

"Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains," urged Jesus (Matt. 24:16).  Once there, they shall "begain to say to the mountains, "Fall on us! and to the hills, "Cover us!" (Luke 23:30)

Isaiah the Prophet advises them to take shelter from the "indignaion" during Satan's "little moment" of release, for at that time God's wrath will punish all those who have followed the beast: "Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide youself, as it were, for a little moment, until the indignation is past.  For behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity."  (Isaiah 26:20-21)

"For then there will be found many people who had pleased God and who may be able to be saved in the hills and desert places by many prayers and ceaseless lamentation, for Holy God, seeing their indescribable weeping and true faith, will show them mercy, like a tender father, and will watch over them wherever they will hide."  Saint Ephraim

Wildfire: Death would be a comfort compared to the life that you describe. It would be impossible for me to live under those conditions. I am sure that my life would not be allowed to continue. My only prayer would be that Jesus would come and rescue me.

Not only would I endure the pain and suffering from a situation like that, but I would greet it with a ferocious vigor greater than if I were going to fight in a war to defend my country.

There is nothing I would rather suffer for than Jesus.
