YES! :)

Watch all of Corrie ten Boom on videos (youtube or other) that you are able to,
and
ask your husband if he can locate her book "Common Sense Not Needed" .

I'm not 'positive' this is what you are looking for, but it has helped a great number of people.

Try an easier to read version of the Bible like, The Good News Bible, The New Living Translation, or something along that line, it might help some. Ask Jesus to help you understand scripture, He will help. You also need to get to know the Lord better as He will help you not be afraid of things to come. There is a scripture..........

1 John 4:18 Easy to read version
Where God's love is, there is no fear, because God's perfect love takes away fear. It is his punishment that makes a person fear. So his love is not made perfect in the one who has fear.

This is saying that if you are still fearful you have not reached that perfect love yet so thats why we need to get closer to Him so you learn to trust Him completely. One way to do this is to get alone somewhere and put on some worship music and start praying to Him, talk to Him, tell Him you love Him thanking Him for all good things He has given you and worshiping Him for what He means to you. To me He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords, The great I AM, my Savior, my High Priest, the Rock I stand on, my Husband, the lover of my soul. He is my provider, my protector, the healer of my body. Just whatever you can think of that He is to you. Just keep on worshiping Him as long as you can and try to do it daily, you will see, it helps you draw closer to Him. Also try to read scripture daily, even when you come to parts you dont understand yet, just keep reading.
Is your husband a Christian and do you go to church ?

Go to the main source of wisdom and pray for the holy spirit to guide you. No one better than Jesus leading you into all truth and knowledge of the bible.

i try and go to church every Sunday

Do you know anyone at church well enough to ask them to study scripture with you ? I learn more when I have someone to discuss the scriptures with. We can bounce around ideas on what they are talking about. I am glad your husband will take you to church. Do not give up on his salvation.

I know for me when I started the KJ version was confusing to me and I learned barley anything. And through my various versions I can understand but since I struggle with learning issue, a brain injury and memory issues...its not always easy. For example, I don't often read the old testament anymore. Because my mind can't seem to process things right or store them right. So I may mix up something from the OT (like a law) and think I need to obey it now. Obviously God of the OT and NT are very different in the approach He does.

Its why I also try to do bible studies or come here for answers/help. Will you or I ever understand this all perfectly? Nope. I say that because even the most well educated, well versed, amazing christian ever can admit that they will never be perfect or perfectly understand everything in the bible. Only person who was perfect in this was Jesus. And since theres only one Jesus, we cannot obtain that level of perfection (at least not in these vessels).

But yes lots of good suggestions here from prayer groups to asking Jesus for help with what you read. In my case I now have a wife so having someone to bounce info off of helps alot too! As much as some say marriage is hard, I find it very helpful when it comes to being a christian.

Hi, Eugene Peterson, the theologian, stated that the current Bible is difficult to understand because the fluid language has been taken out. You are not alone. His answer was to write a version of the Bible which put back the fluid everyday language. The Message Bible is a revelation by the Holy Spirit of the true meaning of God's Word. Eugene never intended it to replace the King James Bible or the New International Version, which are as close to the original as possible. Instead, we cannot properly understand the Word of God without The Message Bible. Only completed about 14 years ago, it is the biggest thing for nearly 2000 years. For nearly 2000 years, the Christian Church has struggled to live in the true light.

I strongly recommend you buy a copy of The Message Bible and read it alongside your usual Bible version. It has helped me to draw into deeper fellowship with Jesus. There's also an audio version - New Testament - to download onto a smartphone. God bless you and don't delay.

I started using a New Living Translation (NLT) Study Bible this year, and it's been eye-opening. To me, this translation is one of the easiest to read that I've encountered so far (I've also used KJV, NASB, NIV, and ESV). The study part means that it has verse by verse notes and chapter introductions. My copy also has theme summaries throughout. I find all that very helpful to understanding the more "obscure" parts of scripture. I offer this as an alternative for you, since you say your husband doesn't support bible study groups.

I have not used The Message version yet, but I may choose that version for my reading plan for 2017.
