What did Jesus say about the sabbath?

What day did He go to the synsgogues?

He was a jew from the tribe of Judah and very obedient to the 4th commandment.

Jesus completed His work of REDEMPTION on the Sabbath day, His day.

Jesus said A LOT with His actions.

What are we reading friends?

Mark 2:27-28

And He said unto them, "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath."

He did not say that the Sabbath was made for the jew, He said it was made for man.

Man = mankind = everybody.

Defunct nation?

God said that He would bring His people back to Him.

Is all over the Old Testament.
I wonder what book are people reading.

Since 1948, the nation of Israel was formed. Is anybody reading the news? Or history? Or the word of God?

Jeremiah 31:35-37 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name: If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. Thus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord.

Leviticus 26:40-45 If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land. The land also shall be left of them, and shall enjoy her sabbaths, while she lieth desolate without them: and they shall accept of the punishment of their iniquity: because, even because they despised my judgments, and because their soul abhorred my statutes. And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the Lord their God. But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the Lord.

Deuteronomy 30:1-5 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath driven thee, And shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; That then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee. If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee: And the Lord thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

Psalms 89:30-34 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless my loving kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

Yes and it is WONDERFUL !

There was a book I had years ago...... don't know where it is now....
about PSALMS......

Psalm 48 I believe was especially pertinent (corresponding to 1948 directly).
More amazing at the same time was Psalms 1 thru 47 corresponding directly
to the years 1901 through 1947 - very 'obviously' and simply.
and likewise Psalms 49 thru whatever Psalm the book ended with.

Israel Returns to The Lord.

Ezekiel 36:8-38

33. "Thus saith the Lord God; In the day that I shall have cleansed you from all your inequities I will also cause you to dwell in the cities, and the wares shall be builded."

God does all of these things to Israel.

Isaiah 11:12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.

Wow! the bees are certainly buzzing. I have to remind you all again that God hallowed the day for Israel and no other nation. Paul wrote that the Sabbath of Israel is a shadow and the reality Is Jesus. Paul was Jesus ambassador on Earth. His writings are cannon. Since the Sabbath of Israel is now a shadow Jesus will not say anything about our not observing a shadow, He will ask those who spend a great deal of time keeping defunct rituals given to a defunct nation why they didn't listen to His ambassadors Paul and John.

And yes Israel was a defunct nation for almost 2000 years. The covenant with the nation of Israel died along with the nation. I have not heard of God instituting a covenant with the new nation which is nothing but a pseudo nation compared to the original Israel. Secularism is rampant in the new Israel. If you believe Israel will once again become a favored nation then you disregard the New Testament. We all come to Jesus as individuals. People cannot ride the coattail of others, we all have to stand along with Jesus against sin.

But Jesus was resurrected exactly on the Sabbath day at 3:00 PM or the ninth hour of the day, exactly 72 hours after He gave up the ghost.

He finished His work of "Redemption" as His father finished His work of Creation on the sabbath.

Never on Sunday, the day of the Sun that pays respect to the creation instead of the Creator.

The Christians separated themselves from the Jews when they started the tradition of getting together to collect things and to break bread on the first day of the week.

God asked the Jews what did you do with my sabbath during the 70 years captivity in Babylon.

Jesus when He comes back is going to ask the same question,

What have you done with my sabbaths?

4th Commandment.

God asked the jews when they came back from Babylon, What have you done to my sabbaths?

It was only 70 years.

When Jesus comes back, He'll also ask, What have you done to my sabbaths?

It has only been around 1,700 years.

Why did God "hallow" the sabbath?

You can believe whatever you want, but you better follow and be obedient to your Creator.

Amadeois,

You have said this twice. Where does the Bible say any such thing? I don't recall any verse to this effect. You need to cite passages if you are going to discuss them.

Too many persons still believe in the 39 hours rather than believing in Jesus words that said 3 days and 3 nights that is equal to 72 hours.

So SAD that they do not understand the word of Jesus.

Read all the gospels and understand the word and the mistakes.

I believe in Jesus and on His words.

Glory be to God and to Jesus.

First day of the week, sabbaton = 7 days = a week.

Sabbaton means a week, not a sabbath that is the last day of the week.

The ladies came to the tomb early the first of the sabbaton meaning, they came early to the tomb on the first day of the week, a Sunday.

At that time it was NOT CALLED SUNDAY, it was the FIRST day of the week and Jesus was not there because He had resurrected Himself exactly at 3:00 PM or the ninth hour as it was used at that time.

He said that He would be in the center if the earth for "3 days and 3 nights.

A clear part of the day has 12 hours and a dark part (night) of the day has also 12 hours. So 24 hours is one day times 3 is =72 hours.

Somebody said is not in the Bible, it is because Jesus said it, the problem is they do not know how to interpret what is in the word.

The first day of the week, is not Jesus day.

Did anybody pay attention to the statistics?

Amadeois,

Let us take a look at your notion that Jesus spent exactly 72 hours in the grave. I assume that you are referring to the claim that Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday and resurrected on a Saturday. This doesn't fit with the Scripture for several reasons.

On “72 hours” in the grave, I was taught that “three days” means parts of three days. It doesn't have to mean three complete days. The following backs this up.

Quote
Before we turn to the scripture for confirmation of this principle, let us read the authoritative statement of the Jewish Encyclopedia on the matter. "A short time in the morning of the seventh day is counted as the seventh day; circumcision takes place on the eighth day, even though, of the first day only a few minutes after the birth of the child, these being counted as one day." Jewish Encyclopedia, Volume 4, page 475. How clearly this defines the Hebrew method of computing time. Any small part of a day was reckoned as the entire twenty-four hour period.
End Quote

Here is an example from the Book of Esther.

Quote
An example of the way the scripture uses the term is found in Esther 4:16. Do not overlook the fact that they were to fast "three days and three nights." Yet Esther 5:1 tells us, "it came to pass on the third day" that they ended their fast. Here is a perfect example of how three days and three nights terminate on the third day!
End Quote

Another example is in Acts Chapter 10. Cornelius is speaking to Peter. Cornelius had a vision 72 hours before and he says it was four days ago.
