i have been given some talents to use in the church and now have a partner in ministry but she just wants to hide her talent and not spend it whereas I want to spend it for everyone in the congregation, no good it sitting in the bank or in a hole in the ground.

What do you do in such case?
I mean she has her opinion and I have mine..but how can you glorify God if you being stingy? We got allocated a budget for the church library and its great we have spent half of it but now shes saying not to spend anymore. But if we dont spend it its just going to sit there. And im not being unwise with it Its ALL going to to the church as books and furnishings etc.

Our pastor has said after our initial expenidture we will have an annual church budget for the library where we can name the amount. I have rough figure in mind based on the amoint of new books we purchase a month. (One a month) But my partner seems to think its a luxury not a necissity since we do get many books as donations.

Im just feeling a bit frustrated because i said I would only do the church library if we had a budget for it. I have done libraries on nothing before which was all my own money and got nothing back which was fine but God has blessed us with a budget to spend so shouldnt we use it?!

I sounds like you should spend it, but if the partner isn't on board with a project that the church and pastor want completed, she should be asked to step aside. OTOH it sounds as though she thinks the library has already been developed as much as needed, so you'd have to be certain that she's not right about that. There's no point in spending for more holdings IF no one much uses the library.

remind her that God is the one who loads the table until the dogs get full from the crumbs that fall off of it as He overflows your cup (Mark 7:28, Psalms 23:5); He fills the fish net up so full that it begins to break, and fills the ships up so full that they begin to sink (Luke 5:4-7 ; John 21:7,8); He provides so much lunch that you need 7-12 baskets to pick up the crumbs (Mark 8:8; 6:43) - when He gives you something to use in His ministry, He expects you to use it like it won't run out - because when you stop, you clog the blessing pipe on your end (2Kings 4:5,6) :)

Take it to the pastor or church board and let them decide. After he has made his decision go with whatever he decides and do not complain about it.

How about asking the other person to pray with you about this issue. Prayer takes off the mask we live behind, it opens hearts, and pleases King Jesus.

Hmm good idea.
Well. I did pray beforehand and we met up today but surprisingly she was in agreement with me about another issue, then I was a little at odds with another church member, but then another church member came along and solved all these other unfinished issues...

Funny.

I mean..when someone is well meaning but actually puts stumbling blocks directly in your path. It is so annoying! But its not like you clearing it to put the blocks in their path either, you actually making it easier for everyone. Maybe some people are just being a bit tunnel vision and narrow minded.

I can understand how John the baptist felt clearing the way for Jesus.

Actually the stumbling block person was the admin who doesnt even go to our church. ?!

Im just annoyed that this person now acts like she owns the church and meddling with every decision we make to do our jobs. She gets paid, we dont. Maybe shes just covering herself. I ought to pray for her but i was just so annoyed yesterday!!!

btw - do you lend out CDs and DVDs of sermons and services in your church library?
coming back to this thread...I missed this sorry

Apparently that used to happen and there was a whole tape ministry but that was before I started attending.

We've now got dvds after removing all the old vhs.
As far as I know the sermons arent being recorded, this did happen at another church that downloaded to their website but not this one.

The church I go to is an older congregation and quite a few members are dutch. The dutch Im sorry to say have a reputation for being stingy.

Ive now personally encountered this brand of stinginess which really irks me.
Another friend of mine, her ex was dutch. He wouldnt even pay for their daughters education.

I want to be generous to others in the church but this other church member doesnt want to pay for anything, for fear its going to be stolen, grafittied or vandalised.

I suggested a seat to be put in under a tree and he rreaction was like you asking the church for money.
Im like no, we will just get the seat, its not like Im asking the pastor to pay for one. But she didnt want to pay for a seat.
Im like..we dont have to pay for a seat. We can make one out of old pallets. If it gets grafittied just paint it or sand it.

And here again ppl are just obessesd with others stealing seats and chairs?!
As far as i know ppl dont steal seats.
If they did we would have no pews in church we would all sit on the floor.

People steal freshly planted poppies but really, who would steal a seat?! Come on lady, worrying about stuff like that is not going to do anyone any good.
The gates of hell arent prevailing against the church but shes worried about someone stealing a seat...but maybe the real deal is she just doesnt want to be generous and pay for one...?!

This lady lives in a mansion btw. Well to me it is a mansion.

Anyway excuse my rant but..maybe its just priveliged baby boomers I dont understand.

I was on community meal and we had run out of milo so I asked the pastor do we have any. And he was like, what for.

And i said, well the children might want some.
And he was, If we dont have it we dont have it. Do we usually give milo?

i was like...yeeeess. Unless the children want to drink tea or coffee. (I cant imagine children drinking coffee). It was like he wasnt even aware that there were children in this church who might be thirsty. ?!

Another volunteer offered to go and buy some but I think maybe they had hidden it somewhere I didnt know.
Anyway finally we got some milo but I was kinda annoyed that pastor was just put out by the fact that I simply asked for milo for the children.

Stuff like this happens in my church which to me is just really bringing me down. :-(

faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God; it's great that you have audio/video content. Keith Moore (Moore Life Ministries) and Andrew Womack Ministries make all their audio/video teachings available for free, and Kenneth Copeland Ministries also makes a lot of their audio/video content available for free; they trust God to fund their ministries through partners - maybe you can start a partnership for your ministry - people donate a small amount each month to give you a budget so you don't have to plead for money for specific things like milo

Libraries are free for everyone thats why we have them.
I buy books to put in the library. But we always get donations and we do have a budget now.
I was reimbursed for the last round. Ive completed the catalogue finally but just need to find a seat, one for by the books and then another one oustide. I do plan to maybe have bible storytimes and it would be a good thing to have permanent seats.

If you not a librarian you wouldnt know all the drama that goes into creating libraries. We have to battle every step of the way. Some People just have NOO idea. Maybe its just the stingy people who never share their books...

It's cool that you've been involved with putting together and running a library for the church.

Unfortunately when dealing with other church members who are helping run things, it can get annoying. My mom keeps running into that when helping with the children's church services.

The premise of a library is its free for everyone to borrow. When theyve done with s book they can just pass it on or return it, no worries.
Its not like people are stealing its a form of sharing.

People who dont have libraries or use them, just dont understand this and just think they there to look pretty.

Anyway i think its just ppls attitudes that are starting to annoy me, like they are precious about things that are for everyone to share.

Just because one person might have their own books and never use a library doesnt mean another person who also goes to the same church can afford them or even has the opportunity to read.
