So I had what I felt was an encounter with Satan recently. I felt it was a last ditch effort with something I have struggled heavily with my whole life. Fear.

I was attacked one night by invisible claws scratching and clawing at my head and heart, but they couldn't be seen or get in. I was initially very afraid, but after I had a thought to just let them do so and they would quickly go away. I soon fell into a deep and peaceful sleep even though I wanted to share this account after it was over.

The next night I was lying down and I was suddenly very afraid and unsure of my faith and shadows were dancing on the wall of my bedroom. A kitchen utensil fell off the desk and hit a glass. I kept on hearing steps. I drifted off to sleep and suddenly I had something like a seizure ("sleep paralysis"?) where my whole body felt like it was being shaken violently and then I glimpsed a dark shadowy man standing right in front of my bed. and when I opened my eyes again he was gone.

I was very afraid so I started singing and playing worship songs and praying for comfort because I didn't know if it was all in my mind. I finally was able to fall asleep in peace.

This is the conclusion I came to in my personal Faith.

"To anticipate an evil spiritual attack is an invitation TO the forces of evil. To anticipate the protection of our Father in Heaven is an expulsion OF the forces of evil."

I don't think I have to worry about this happening again because I know who I belong to with confidence now. This conclusion I came to may or may not be true but I had witnessed a demonic possession of a young boy in a mental ward (many years ago) who would "blackout" and charge at people snarling because he said to me when I asked about it "I absorb all the negative energy around me" Mark 5:9. He was very calm and timid otherwise. He would never hurt anyone. When he did snap he would never remember anything that happened even if he had been hit in self-defence. It's like he had lost complete control and memory of his body for the time he "blacked out".

This was a place where unstable youth would commit suicide attempts, self-mutilation, and violence and the Doctors and nurses had no idea how to help some of them but prescribe various medications in vain. I felt like it was a den of evil now that I look back at it from a better understanding of discernment through Holy Spirit. A breeding ground for demonic activity. There is a very big difference I feel between demonic oppression and demonic possession. I have been privileged to perceive most all stages as a child.

I think "The Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan is spot on in most all parts. Especially when I look at Luke 8:26-39 (Matthew 8:28-34; Mark 5:1-20) Matthew 10:8 and how he always refers to the dead as simply "sleeping" (Lazarus, Little girl etc..). I personally think it's folly to discount the existence of evil forces as it is very relevant to our ministry of servitude to others. This is just my stand on it.

Concerning the casting out of demons/devils, my question is this to those who have been to various parts of the globe and have seen and dealt with this stuff as well through field experience:

Do you believe it's nigh impossible to perceive evil spiritual forces when we are alone? Does it only happen when we interact with others? Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I find the Spiritual realm very interesting as one who has become very aware of its reality (Ephesians 6:10-20) specifically. This was hastily typed.

God makes seeing evil spirits possible. He calls it discerning of spirits 1 Corinthians 12:10

It's possible to see them without this. I believe that there are times where demons are required to reveal themselves. I also believe God enables it for lost people at times to see them. It's also possible to be in witchcraft and see them.

In my case, I don't fully understand it, but for example, if a devil shows up to tempt me or something, I see it. If it wants in my room, I see it. Even my house at times, I will see this too because I claim where I live and where I work.

I once saw a bunch of frogs hopping outside our work place in the spirit, and I understood it was a curse of false spirits coming. But Jesus delivered our work place of those.

White spirits... false spirits; spirits of false beliefs and false religion, lies attempted to be perpetrated as truth. (See Revelation white horse.)
Black Spirits... fear usually. 2 Timothy 1:7 (Black horse, because, do not worry about your life, or what you will eat, or what you will wear... worry = fear.)

But you know, who cares, it's all about Jesus.

By the way, when the devil comes at you like that... it happened to me several times after coming to Christ.

What I learned from several of these instances, was that the devil could only come at me that bad because I was in error in believing God.

Once, it was really bad, and it didn't end until I repented of pride. I was trying to stand in my own strength, but it was impossible... when I repented of pride, it ended.

Or other times, this verse freed me and is freeing me:

The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. - Proverbs 12:18

When I spoke scripture as a sword against people, it showed I was operating in the world's power not God's. It opens our lives to attack.

Honestly, that you get hit that bad, I would imagine you have false religious beliefs that permit it. And quite likely now that you know you will not go through it again, you were delivered of those wrong believing / living.

So you're right, it gets less and less if we're following Christ.
