I strongly believe that instead of obsessing over the fact of the End of the World that we should go out and do what Jesus commands, and Harvest the fields that are waiting for us. "The Harvest is plentiful...But the workers are few." Am I only one that feels this way?

Not at all. However, one can study Eschatology and harvest the fields as well. One doesn't keep you from doing the other. For example, I'm having a prayer meeting at my house tonight and a couple are coming that have doubts and many questions (like all of us do) so you could say, I do both and glory to God that I have an opportunity here for Him to use me.  Pray for me, btw, that I am able to answer in the way God would have me answer any questions they may have.

Wise words that we should be harvesting those fields. I completely agree with you on that point and I urge everyone else here that is a believer to get hoppin'! However, just because people enjoy discussing and studying eschatology doesn't mean they necessarily neglect spreading the gospel, though some may.

Has anyone considered "harvesting" online? I have visited Islamic discussion boards to discuss the word of Christ, but I am confronted with a feeling of hopelesness and heavy-heartedness.

I have posted in several other forums, encouraging others to love and turn their hearts over to God. I am not certain if this is true harvesting, but it is something.

I believe that the fruit of your work can turn others in the right direction. yesterday I was heartbroken to see a man sitting near a traffic light holding a sign that said "hungry". I went home, filled a picnic basket full of food and returned it to him. There must have been a dozen cars there, with drivers who were watching, and I thought; maybe this act of kindness will do some good, and soften others.

I believe it is a combination of things that make us workers; and what I ask myself when I am challenged, is "what would Jesus do, if he were here?"
And then I recieve my answer.

End of the world - the rapture, trib, etc - it will come when it will come. The "Great Commission" didn't say to wait around and look for His coming :)

But in 2nd Peter, we're supposed to look forward to His coming.

(or is it 1st Peter? One of those :D)

I believe to harvest is to plant the seeds of Gods word among people; it is in the parables that Jesus spoke. One of them is in chapter 20 of Matthew;

where the kingdom of heaven is 'likened' unto a householder (Christ) which went out early in the morning to hire (gather) laborers (christians) into his vineyard (world).
And he agreed with the laborers for a penny a day, and sent them into his vineyard.
And upon every hour, he found more laborers; standing idle in the marketplaces, and gave them the same agreement as the first.

Then all the laborers were called, and every man recieved a penny.

But those who had labored longer than the others, murmured against the goodman of the house, and felt that they should recieve more.

They complained that those servants wrought but one hour, and they have been made equal to us, who have borne the burden of the heat of the day!

So the householder said, friend, I did thee no wrong, is thine own eye evil, because I am good?
Didst thou not agree with me for a penny?

Many shall be called, few chosen.

My answer was in regard to what superdave said   :  I strongly believe that instead of obsessing over the fact of the End of the World .

It was this obsession that led me to the bible so I don't think that being obsessed with the end of the world is a bad thing .

Yes that is what got me interested also.

I thought the Rapture was going to happen any moment.

I now just try to live and not worry about the end of the world.

I think it's alright to study Revelation. But not to dwell on it- like a lot of people are doing nowadays. For Example everytime I turn on the TV- the Evangelists are talking about the End of the World- Everytime I go into a Christian Bookstore it's loaded with Left Behind and other Revelation Material, and it's just I think that we need to be ministring and evangilizing instead of sitting at home reading the newest copy of "Left Behind" I hate to sound cruel. But it really makes me kinda' angry...
