So when a black man goes hunting for housing and is not shown the best houses on offer because of his race, then goes to a bank and is not offered a mortgage because of his race, and then is stopped by a cop who thought he looked "suspicious" because of the color of his skin, none of this points to victimization? Maybe I don't understand your argument, but racism isn't something that only affects you if you let it. Racism affects you whether you want it to or not.
Race is a social construct. That doesn't make it not a thing, though. Just because it's not genetic doesn't make it not real. The fact is that if your skin is black, you're extremely likely to face racial discrimination in this country.
But by rejecting the experience of all those who claim to have experienced racism, you already have marginalized them - you've marginalized them even further than the actual racists had previously done.
Great response. I will say that when someone disregards or even scoffs at a story of experiencing racism and discrimination that it does add insult to injury.
