As for Bible prophecy, the similarities become even clearer. Daniel 8:23 says, at the Time of the End, a king of "fierce countenance and understanding dark sentences shall arise". From the start of his political career, Adolf Hitler styled himself as a fierce opponent of the Weimar Republic, so much so, that when "Mein Kamp" was published (a book of dark sentences if there ever was one), and he was brought to trial for it's seditious content, German courts were so afraid of reprisal, they didn't convict Hitler of treason and actually exonerated him of all charges.
Vladimir Putin began his political career as a KGB case officer in Dresden, East Germany. As a case officer he was trained in the development of western assets (agents), through applying blackmail, coercion and threats (again, dark sentences). Putin has time and time again threatened the West and Europe with war (EVEN NUCLEAR WAR) in his public speeches. Most recently threatening America with war, should Hillary Clinton be elected President. That sounds pretty "fierce" to me.
Daniel 11:23 says, "After coming to an agreement with him, he will act deceitfully and with only a few people he will rise to power" (NIV Bible). Hitler became the political face of the SA,(a small radical organization of thugs in Germany) and after being elected Reich Chancellor, he turned on the SA, murdering many of its' leaders in a bloody purge called the "Night of the Long Knives", or the "Rohm Putsch, in which his elite inner circle of followers replaced the SA as his personal vanguard.
As stated already, Vladimir Putin also rose to power through his career in the KGB (a small and elite, but influential branch of the Soviet Government). Through his KGB association, Putin would have had access to all the intelligence information detailing Boris Yeltsin's crimes of corruption and excess as the President of Russia. Putin was named by Boris Yeltsin as his chosen successor, and Putin's first official act as President was to pardon Boris Yeltsin protecting him from prosecution. Putin also rises to power with a few people, and consolidates his power through deception, just like Adolf Hitler did.
Daniel also says, "He will exalt and magnify himself above every god, and he will say outrageous things against the God of gods. He will be successful, until the time of wrath is completed, because what has been decreed shall be accomplished" (Daniel 11:36).
Early on, Adolf Hitler had close political ties with the Vatican, and styled himself as a "Champion of Christianity" to the German people and the world. Inevitably (as with all megalomaniacs), Hitler proclaimed himself "Fuhrer" of the German people, to which they had to pledge unfaltering allegiance to, above any other authority, (even God). In the end, Hitler not only marched the Jews into the ovens of the death camps, but many Roman Catholic priests suffered the same fate as well.
Vladimir Putin also has close ties with the Vatican, and has been called by Pope Francis the "Savior of the Christian World" against Radical Islam.
As I said, the similarities are striking. Both men are megalomaniacs, who claim to be doing the work of God, while suffering from a "god" complex themselves.
