Salaam alaikum,
I would like to wish my Muslim friends on this forum a Happy Ramadan. I am not Muslim, but I pray God blesses you and your families and loved ones during the fast. May you be blessed with peace and hope and love by our Creator Allah.

Yes I too respect and admire those Muslims who are fasting and pray that God's blessings will shower on them and that their fast will hold spiritual benefits..

16 “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 17 But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly"

I saw the new Mayor of London on TV last night, Sardik Khan, a muslim ( though he has a fatwa issued against him, something to do with his advocacy of gay marriages )

He was fasting but was able to joke.......he said to another guest on the show, 'I'm fasting, but what's YOUR excuse for being miserable?"

Came across well. Maybe hope for the future there.

Simplegifts, what does the despicable behaviour of some idiots have to do with a religious fast?

I mean, do you say that one way to celebrate Good Friday is to go find and beat up (or worse) a bunch of Jews, since Christians have been doing that across Europe throughout the Middle Ages?

Is that an Easter celebration? Or a bunch of ignorant morons acting badly, which has nothing to do with the religion of Christianity?

If you don't judge Christianity or Judaism by the actions of some idiots, then why do that for Islam?

'Amo! Ramadhan and early Eid Mubarak! It's been going by waaaaay too fast, hasn't it? Tonight's the 1st odd night of the last 10 nights so there's that to keep us happy lol. InshaAllah our worship will be accepted and we will witness and take advantage of Laylat al-Qadr.

LOL. Not exactly what I meant. Baha'is only fast when they are between the ages of 15 and 70. I guess it is a bit different in Islam.
