for a continuation from my last post:

ah...nintendo will never take over the rpg business. square is the king of rpgs, and psx has them.
game cube is only good for cute games...which are still fun. um...as far as playing with a whole bunch of friends, game cube is the best out of the 3 consoles listed.
in my opinion, n64 is kinda boring. i hate the 3d junk...and the system barely has any GREAT games.

sega and dreamcast...yeah...

psx is okay....i guess. some good rpgs here and there, but nothing big. ps2...i haven't really payed attention to.

rpgs are dying out and square is desperate to revive it - hence the final fantasy online. this age is the generation of multiplayer games, and i doubt that its gonna die out any time soon.

my list:

1. pc  2. snes  3. uh......psx

Playstation all the way! Whether PSX or PS2, this is definitely, IMO, the best system out there. It has the widest selection of games, in all genres, as well as the best quality games of all consoles. Square and Konami... kingpins of the market who choose Sony.

Xbox doesn't have enough good games to sustain it (and its uh... big)

PC... you're limited in screen size and controller comfort... and the variety of games cant compare to the PSX+2.

The gamecube has cornered the market in kiddie games and is now having trouble breaking out of that stigma... it even looks kiddie-like.... like a piece of the background scenery you'd find in Mario or something. Although... it does score bonus points in the aray of colors that the console comes in... PINK, YELLOW, PURPLE! But, if its only benefit lies in the asthetics of the machine, then it might as well be a Mac. (and the limited edition PS2 systems are now available in a variety of really awesome colors... not that classic black isn't always hot)

As for RPGs.... the gamecube may yet get a boost in popularity.... it is to my grave displeasure that after Final Fantasy XII, Square has given the word for the series to be available exclusively for Gamecube. To test the waters, they are releasing FF Chrystal Chronicles for gamecube, which actually looks pretty awesome.... which angers me b/c i dont want to get a gamecube... but if they keep up this trend, i may end up with one.

But .hack and Xenosaga are out on PS2 right now, and I hear they are awesome, and I know I plan on getting FFX-2 in May b/c FFX was my favorite game.

Basically, to wrap up and keep this from totally going off topic.... what I'm trying to say is that nothing more than the games make the system... no matter how pathetic the graphics are, everyone remembers Sonic from the Genesis with a fond heart..... it was a good game.... most of Genesis' games were..... and regardless of the graphics, any hardcore gamer will agree that the games make the system.... you'll buy a system for the games, not the brand.

that's why i say snes had the best games.

final fantasy 3 was a classic...and one of the best rpgs (and game) ever. the next best are chrono trigger and secret of mana.

super mario world is the best mario game, super metroid the best metroid, zelda (aLttP) the best in their series, and so on...
what more can you ask for in a system?

and as for all the other games...
games from snes were all about story line cuz there wasn't much they could do with graphics. nintendo was pretty good...but story line was limited. snes is right in the middle, where people don't spend a million days on graphics, but can put a lot into the game itself.

i have psone, but i'm not too excited when it comes to their (or ps2) games. the latest final fantasy games have really stunk, and i'm not all that excited about the online one that's about to come out. if you're wanting online RPGs, my best bet are the diablo and warcraft (though i don't play it...but bro does - i stink at it) series, and so on. besides, a lot of the games that psx and ps2 have are on PC. and...PC DOES have an actual controller, so it's not like you're doomed to play off the mouse.

even though gamecube has kiddie games, it's all about playing with your friends. still...console has gone down the drain, and i doubt i'll ever get another system.

as long as i have my major PC games, i'm happy.

I have a PS2 and a GBA. Out of the two I would have to go with the PS2. I'm thinking about getting a xbox or a game cube, but I'm not sure yet.

Oh yes! The super nintendo days! *brings back good memorys*
The only good the N64 is good for is to play super smash bro's! :D

I used to have a sega cd (remember those?) and a sega nomad (awesome) and I wish I haven't of gotten rid of them!
/me kicks herself

Man I've had alot of systems, atari, nintendo, super nintendo, n64, game boy, game boy advance, sega, sega nomad, playstation (twice), and a playstation 2.

I guess I'm the odd person out: I think it's a tie between SNES and PS One, because both were the first in different classes: SNES was good because it established the "storyline-based RPG" in its own right with titles like FFII, FFIII, and Chrono Trigger.

PS One was good because it provided the sound and graphics capabilities for games like Chrono Cross, FFVIII, and others that became classics for great artwork and soundtracks as well as storyline and gameplay.

-^.^-

(And for anyone who wants to know, I am interested in the online Final Fantasy game: I'm just waiting until I get a cable or DSL internet connection, because the slow connection speed and disconnects all the time that I have with dialup would be very annoying.)

honestly, I don't think any is better. I do love to here about Xbox's heating Graphics Card. Its like the best Card in the industry. my favorite? i dont have any. i usually fall for the games. if the game is good then the thought about the system doesn't come to mind. I have a sega dreamcast, xbox, computer, playstation and I game in all of them. :)
