Are you saying the separate lines for women is women being elevated in society? Separate buses is to give women power as opposed to protecting from groping?
If the separate lines and busses give them better treatment, such as faster moving through the lines (as the article states), and an ability to get on the fastest bus as opposed to having the wait an hour for the next round due to lack of space (as previous articles I have read about the busses state), then yes I feel it is giving them elevated status in society.

From the article.....
The government’s rationale is that women want to avoid being frisked by men. In the women’s lanes, the security guards are all women.

Easy solution: Have female guards who can handle the frisking part ready to assist any women who need frisking. You don't need a whole separate line for this.

From the article...for the convenience of men....
Women also carry bags of personal cosmetics that need to be opened and inspected, requiring greater scrutiny, one security guard told state media. The implication is that they are slowing down other (male) travelers with less fussy baggage.
Then why is the female only line going 10% faster than the regular line if they have more fussy baggage.
It sounds to me like rather than giving everyone equal access to personal to check their baggage, the female passengers are given extra attention to speed up their line at the expense of the male passengers.

If efficiency means faster.....which it probably does in this case....I can only guess at why....
Think of an assembly line where the people working are doing the same thing over and over. They know exactly what they are looking for and where in those fussy items those things may be found. Not only that they use the same fussy items themselves. Being familiar with the item being inspected makes a difference.
And maybe they had trouble with men lingering over ladies dainty clothing. ;)

Most men use inappropriate content, and would take a feel given the right opportunity.
Errm, I'll agree with the first half of that statement, but disagree strongly with the second half. The majority of men would not "take a feel given the right opportunity".

As for these lines, well ok, if it increases efficiency, then whatever. But it does seem a bit of a shame to make a couple, or a family, queue in different lines. And they'll no doubt move at different speeds, so one will be waiting for the other when they're past security.

Now, for the big question, which I'm amazed has not yet come up given some peoples' obsession: which line do transexuals use?

Would you support other countries that allow racist policies because they have a different context and are a different country?
You do understand cultural differences exist in the world? Chinese view the world a lot differently than Americans. Chinese men and women probably don't even see a problem with it. Chinese tend to care about balance and harmony, not what is fair. Which sounds contradictory, but it isn't in their minds.
