The answer is context. Daniel and Revelation is the history of what was going to happen to Israel in the last days of Israel as a nation. The context is Rome. The 'great city" that reigns over the kings of the earth and sits on 7 hills is Rome. Context is key.
so you see all this in the future?
-does that make you a futurist?

-so what Jesus spoke of has not happened yet?
There is only one AOD and it's done by the Greek little horn, not by the Roman little horn. The mention of it in the NT can only be referencing the city and temple's final desolation as Luke put it, "when you see Shalem surrounded by armies, know that her 'final desolation' has come." The problem is in the translation, probably a verse tampered with, hence one book saying "stand in the holy place" while the other says "standing in the holy place" because the Beast standing in the holy place is not the AOD!

The only reference that relates to "standing in the holy place" is 2 Thes 2:1-12 where it says the Antichrist/the Beast would stand in the temple showing himself to be God, and it was the Beast, the scriptural 8th horn/Roman emperor who destroyed the temple, which only proves my point of the true interpretation of when, where, and how Christ kingdom was set up when it comes to the Olivet discourse and the "great tribulation."

It was the scriptural 8th Roman emperor who ended the Julio-Claudio line of the first 7 emperors to start his own Flavian dynasty with his two sons who were "plucked" up by the scriptural 11th Roman emperor Nerva when he started his Antonine, I think it is, dynasty.

So you see, all things point to and align with my conclusions. All the historic and scriptural facts point to the horns being kings and not kingdoms!

-what is in the holy place now?
Well, based on 2 Thes 2:1-12, I would say it can only be the temple, but the Antichrist/the Beast "standing in the temple, showing himself to be God" is not the AOD. The comprehensive fact is the the AOD was done by the Greek little horn and resulted in the city and temple's "final desolation" because the AOD "practiced and prospered" thru out the years. And it's historically documented too.

-what did the king of the north set up?
Who the king of the north exalted himself to and the stars he cast to the ground was the firstborn line of Aaronic high priests. It was the Hellenized Jews who forsook the covenant of Levi and orchestrated the replacing of the inherited firstborn sons of Aaron as high priest with Hellenized Jews, maybe lesser Levites, for political favors and power of leadership in Israel. This is the historically documented fact, the reason why Christ criticized the leadership of his day. The Pharisees and Sadducees were the result of the forsaking of the Levitical covenant. Mal 2 confirms it. That is what caused Israel to become desolate, and it "practiced and prospered" for 200+ years (Dan 8:12).

Btw, the Greek little horn is Antiochus III the great, not Antiochus IV who many - including the so-called Jews - claimed sacrificed a pig on the altar, of which they claimed they cleansed the temple (the celebration Hanukkah), fulfilling the prophecy.

the abomination Jesus mentioned had not taken place
-the dome of the rock is now in the holy place
-we all know who placed it there
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand: )

16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

The dome of the rock was built in 691AD. America was not discovered by Columbus until 1492 to put it into perspective. Did great tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time (691AD) , nor ever shall be, take place back when the dome was constructed?

Just when I thought you were serious. Did you read post #118? There's no way you could be asking me that if you did.
Instead of giving other posters curt smart aleck indirect and elusive replies, why don't you just answer yes or no, accompanied by a polite explanation. You need to work on your communications and interpersonal skills.

what do you think sparked the crusades?
-the survival of christianity was at stake
-many historians pointed to battles that kept us from reading the koran

If only you had the understanding to separate fact from fiction.

Regardless of all the time, effort, and the proof I've provided, this is how you respond?

Talk about casting your blessings!

Yes, but I don't think that could be considered the worst time in history, if not cut short no flesh would be saved.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

do you see what you are doing?
-using an ambiguous passage to deny the reality of what is in the holy place now
-it is most likely what Jesus was talking about

Let's look at Daniel 12 -

9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

12 Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

13 But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

Was 620 AD the time of the end?

4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

The time of the end is noted by an increase in transportation and knowledge. 691 AD, horse, sail boats, foot? or 2016 AD computers, jet aircraft, cars, cell phones, tv, radio? Which fits the description in Daniel 4 for the time of the end best, 691 AD or 2016 AD, when the abomination of desolation is setup ?

And there was no daily sacrifice being made in 691 AD, to be taken away, because there has to be a temple for the daily sacrifice to be made.

my bad, I should have typed 691 AD. As that is the date in Wikepedia of when the dome was constructed. Thanks for catching it.

you said there was only one abomination of desolation
-wikipedia has three

I think there are two acts known to be the abomination of desolation.

1. the statue of Zeus placed in the temple by Antiochus IV.
2. the forthcoming image of beast in Revelation 13 (the fulfillment of Matthew 24:15)

don't you mean 2026?
-well we are not supposed to know or dwell on it
-right?
-I prefer to limit my analysis and speculation to historical facts that seem to fit the prophecies
