Do I have the gift of discernment?

What Christian Facebook group would worry about colours and their (supposed) meanings?! That sounds like things Pagans would say.
The last thing a Christian should be looking for on purpose is "spirits".

Choose your online friends carefully, just like your real-life friends. A chapter a day from the Book of Proverbs would help you a lot.

I agree that seeing spirits is a gift. But it sounds like you are not seeing something good. An octopus symbolizes entrapment for example. Someone running into a closet has something to hide. The dog at the door and the person in the closet makes me think someone is trying witchcraft. I've had a similar problem before where someone was trying to put a curse on us.

Don't be discouraged. But know that God has a purpose for you, and that purpose is not to see random things. God's word will guide you. You are special to Him! This witchcraft would lead you into a trap. You should pray for your grandma too because she is being affected.

This may sound crazy but I had a dream that a girl with special powers was going to jump out of a third story door onto a dead tree which would split her apart. Her eyes were closed. But a man with tall antlers pulled her back.

To me, that is witchcraft. You were being seduced into falling into destruction and a fruitless tree. But there is some man in your life who is enamored by you and will help you to step back. Just pray that God will give you a healthy relationship with godly people. And stay in God's word. Every good thing is from God. A spirit will lure, deceive, and entice you. But a Holy God will do good for you.

If you can't discern whether or not you have the gift of discernment, how could you possibly have the gift of discernment?

Along similar lines as my earlier post, with the gift of discernment I would think you would be able to discern the truth from mixed information on the Internet.

My advice would be to get very strong in God's word. Know His truth, and become good at expressing it towards others. Especially the simple gospel message which clearly states we are all sinners in need of a Savior, and that Jesus' work of the cross, when accepted by faith, gives us a robe of righteousness so when we pray to Father God in Jesus' name He receives us. The resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead resides in us, and can help us overcome sin in our life.

These fundamentals must be grasped before anyone would attempt to walk out spiritual gifts. Despite what some very unbiblical groups imply, God doesn't give people gifts to use whenever they chose.

The Spiritual gifts manifest according to His will. That means it will happen naturally, organically, as we walk out our faith. Part of being having a healthy spiritual life is feeding on the word of God and trusting what we see in there.

Seek the Giver, not the gift, and you cannot go wrong. Seeking the gift without knowing the giver based upon His word, is a set-up for deception and has led countless people into the pit.

You can determine that. Ask God for wisdom and He will give it to you

Spiritual gifting are a murky area, I find that the times when I move the best in spiritual gifting are during witnessing to others about Jesus. Often I will just be using the natural mind and God will give me insight. But often when I TRY to use a gift I fail. I often when I am at home try to prophecy, i.e. hear from God, and I fail. But I am often on the street witnessing and my conversation uncovers secrets about the person. As an example I was witnessing last weekend, and just as I spoke not even trying to prophecy, God told me one guy like soccer, and he did, he showed me how a family was related, now I did not even try to prophecy, it was just as an example, as I spoke the the guy about Jesus, he was out side a game shop I just said do you like computer games, he said no, and as I spoke I felt internally to say do you like soccer, he said yes. For me it is not so much direct prophecy, but God dropping hints.

For you I feel as the other have said you need to get deep into the bible. The bible also says when you pray believe and you will have the thing you ask for. We all have a level of faith, what we are comfortable asking for. As you get to know God more and more and get deeper into the Spirit you will find you will be able to ask for bigger and bigger things and see them come to pass. But the faith to see these things must be based upon the bible. Firstly in your situation the thing you are seeing are robbing your peace, they need to be told to rack off, they are basically demons. Don't fear, most of us have seen a demon or two, but they are there to confuse you. God wants to put an inner strength into you, as the bible says the fruit f the spirit is love, joy, and peace. Your life should, and will become in God, a shining tower of love, joy, and peace, from that tower you will be able to see out clearly into the world, and see the darkness, and bring the same peace you have into it. But boy is it hard!!! It is not easy. I know God may tell me to do 100 things and I might t do 2 of them. Getting to know God is an adventure. But our goal as you have said should be to help others. I pray that God help you grow in the gift to help others.

Spiritual gifts are given to serve. There's no reason to be afraid. I Cor 12:1 says we're not to be ignorant about them. So definitely we need to know God's Word. Afterall, the original 12 were with Yeshua for 3.5 years learning. I'm not saying it will take you that long to learn about this gift but there is a learning process. Yes, we do need to keep our focus on The Giver.

I John 4:1 says to test the spirits to see if they're of God.

When Paul said to the spirit in the fortune teller, "I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her." And he came out the same hour (Acts 16:18), he was operating in discerning of spirits. Though what she had been saying beforehand for days was accurate = "These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation." So Yahweh revealed to Paul what spirit was behind the words. Paul had the right attitude by being against the demonic spirit and grieved for her.

Years ago, read that discerning of spirits is just for the demonic but that's not accurate. Because there's both demonic and Godly. An example of a Godly spirit is when James, Cephas, and John perceived the grace that had been given to Paul (Gal 2). Plus why test the spirits if they're only demonic (I John 4:1).

Idk about the colors thing. But the colors in the tabernacle of Moses had certain meanings.

Also, think many believers believe they have discerning of spirits. But it's different from discernment which we need also. But discerning of spirits - as well as all the other manifestations of the gifts - that information has to come from Yahweh or it's just us.

Spiritual gifts are given to the Body of Christ, they are not given to individuals.
The best that any individual can hope to be is a conduit.
You may well be a conduit of a Spiritual Gift, but you can never be a vessel.
Spiritual Gifts bless the Body of Christ, and the glory and thanks for the Gift goes to Christ. You, as the conduit should disappear.

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. (1 Pet. 4:10)

Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. (Romans 12:4-6a)

Hi, what you have described is your ability to see in the spirit world. I just recently read a book about man who also could see things similar to what you have experienced. I recommend you read this Christian book . Worth a read for someone showing sensitivity to things in the spirit world.
