... what is good about your denomination. Is there any good in it or you can't do anything else but post verses.

As Noah brought the final end-time message to the pre-flood world so the Seventh-day Adventist church explains God's final end-time message in Rev 14 given to humanity - just before the 2nd coming.

Here is a short list of positive contributions to our understanding of key events in the life of Christ -- posted on the GT discussion area not long ago -
Dec 27, 2015 #8

1. Christ and the post resurrection sequence of events. -- Apr 5, 2015 #1
2. Christ's crucifixion - Apr 3, 2015 #1
3. Christ in Gethsemane - Mar 31, 2015 #1
4. The Resurrection of Christ - Apr 1, 2015 #1
5. Events at the Birth of Christ - Thursday at 12:58 PM #1
6. Compare different examples on the life of Christ - the Pope, and also "Desire of Ages" Thursday at 12:43 PM #130

That doesn't tell anyone what is good about your denomination. Is there any good in it or you can't do anything else but post verses.

Why should someone look at your denomination over say Baptist, what good things are there about your denomination? Do you know?

OK - an Ad it is. (An Ad that I am assembling on the spot - from my own inquiry into this question0

If bringing to light certain details in the life of Christ that are generally not known - is "not good" - then we have different standards of "good".

Your still doing it, your being impersonal as if your ashamed. The OP wasn't about an ad or anything official but what good do you think is in your denomination, apparently there is nothing good n the SDA since you can't personalize it.

Again you ignore every detail listed - and most of it is my own statement - not something I quote from some place eise -- when you attack someone you need to remember that "details matter".

I have pointed to details about this denomination that are what I find most helpful and in cases where I quote a statistic I try to provide a non-SDA outside reviewer as the source - so that it is not some number or idea I have "made up".

Even in the case of the 6 quotes on the life of Christ - I selected them and you will not find such a list or reference anywhere other than in my post so far as I know.

For example I start off with these links - samples of unique contribution by the SDA denomination -

Click the links and "read" before criticizing and attacking me over them. There is "new material" there that could not be known unless you had read the short quote.

In the links some may have ignored in the 'what's so good about my church' posts --I gave 6 quote/references for the life of Christ -- one of them being this one --

3. Christ in Gethsemane - Mar 31, 2015 #1

"From "Desire of Ages" pg 686-690

As Christ felt His unity with the Father broken up, He feared that in His human nature He would be unable to endure the coming conflict with the powers of darkness. In the wilderness of temptation the destiny of the human race had been at stake. Christ was then conqueror. Now
Page 687

the tempter had come for the last fearful struggle. For this he had been preparing during the three years of Christ's ministry. Everything was at stake with him. If he failed here, his hope of mastery was lost; the kingdoms of the world would finally become Christ's; he himself would be overthrown and cast out. But if Christ could be overcome, the earth would become Satan's kingdom, and the human race would be forever in his power. With the issues of the conflict before Him, Christ's soul was filled with dread of separation from God. Satan told Him that if He became the surety for a sinful world, the separation would be eternal. He would be identified with Satan's kingdom, and would nevermore be one with God. And what was to be gained by this sacrifice? How hopeless appeared the guilt and ingratitude of men! In its hardest features Satan pressed the situation upon the Redeemer: The people who claim to be above all others in temporal and spiritual advantages have rejected You. They are seeking to destroy You, the foundation, the center and seal of the promises made to them as a peculiar people. One of Your own disciples, who has listened to Your instruction, and has been among the foremost in church activities, will betray You. One of Your most zealous followers will deny You. All will forsake You. Christ's whole being abhorred the thought. That those whom He had undertaken to save, those whom He loved so much, should unite in the plots of Satan, this pierced His soul. The conflict was terrible. Its measure was the guilt of His nation, of His accusers and betrayer, the guilt of a world lying in wickedness. The sins of men weighed heavily upon Christ, and the sense of God's wrath against sin was crushing out His life...."(a few more paragraphs at that link)

A focus on the crux of the Gospel - the plan to save mankind - one of the key moments of struggle in the life of Christ --

Still your not personalizing it, when you are ready to tell us what you think makes your denomination so good let me know. I don't give a fig about verses you use or documents from your Church but I from your heart. If you can't tell us because you don't know personally or your ashamed let us know, I was able to tell what I liked about my Church without resorting to official documentation why can't you?

Thanks for posting that Bob. Part of my reason for coming to this forum was to become more familiar with other denominations. I knew very little about yours.

You are welcome! Glad to be of service. Because of Ben Carson's candidacy a lot of people and news media sources have been asking "so what is a Seventh-day Adventist" -- and helping to answer that question in that context was another reason for the thread. This denomination does not endorse any candidate for public office as a matter of policy - but helping to answer the "just who are we" question is very much part of the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist church, as it would be for any denomination.

How is it that MY writing MY own summary of some of the best things about the SDA church -- is in your view "not me"??

I find your logic "illusive" just then.

I can't stand legalistic (in my view) adventist believers, but an adventist school saved me from suicide when I have been molested and abused by a non Adventist (as far as I know) school teacher and tutors.

Adventists (in general) are not prejudiced against medicine so I believe that's what contributed to their proper treatment of depressed students, too, back when SSRIs were not well known.

I am glad EGW led the church to build special Christian schools. Maybe even legalism was better than anything goes public schools. Catholic schools can be out of reach for financial reasons so I owe my life to an adventist educational and medical system.

I think Ben Carson was also saved by his adventist teacher who changed him from a would be criminal to an honor student.

Eph 6:2 says to Honor our parents -- (the fifth commanmdment) -- for "This is the FIRST commandment with a promise" - that means the TEN Commandments are still in force in the NT.

And the NEW COVENANT in Hebrews 8:6-10 (and in Jeremiah 31:31-33) says the "LAW of God" is "written on the heart and mind" under that NEW Covenant.

But to be fair that is not a unique-to-SDAs doctrine.

All of these pro-sunday groups admit that ALL TEN of the TEN commandments are binding upon all the saints in all ages.

I wasn't talking about the Sabbath law - my father died from overwork so I appreciate an emphasis on the Sabbath law. I was just fed up with a nitpicking saved by deeds kind of housemistress who seemed to be ruled by guilt feelings or fear rather than love in all the benefaction she was trying to do. Are you going to say she is the majority of Adventists?

I have no idea who you are talking about. My statement was that I could no more call all Adventists "legalists" than I could call all NT Christians "Legalists" -- were there some legalists among the first century Christians? Certainly there had to be some. So also in every Christian denomination on the planet today. But I still cannot call all - in one denomination "legalists".

I think that book "Desire of Ages" is pretty unique and makes this denomination "special" -- it is the best chapters depicting the death, burial, resurrection of Christ of any commentary on the planet - bar none.

I gave numerous examples including this -
Jan 4, 2016 #4

The point remains.

so also the Great Controversy - has the best, vivid, detailed, eye-witness depiction of the 2nd coming of any book on the planet - bar none.

Certainly I "could" limit my comments to "my local church does this and this and this... and so I really love my local church" -- as could we all. (for example there is a massive passion play enactment done by Southern Adventist University in Collegedale near my home to which the entire community comes as almost the entire university campus is transformed into the events in Jerusalem... as well as outreach ministries of my local church) But I wanted to point to denomination-level contribution.

Your still doing it, your being impersonal as if your ashamed. The OP wasn't about an ad or anything official but what good do you think is in your denomination, apparently there is nothing good n the SDA since you can't personalize it.

I've just got to step in and say this about your criticism. The OP is Bob Ryan's post. And in reviewing their posts concerning what Adventists believe, which includes his personal beliefs, he's been assailed by a handful of individuals that are all of the same mannerism as you present here. Implying he is ashamed, because he hasn't posted the OP in a way that meets your standards so as not to be accused of being ashamed.
The man can't win. He posts objective articles or points concerning Adventist beliefs and he's ridiculed, attacked. He posts his own beliefs and the same befalls Bob.

Being you're in a Congregational forum, that of Traditional Adventists, it may behoove you to review the rules that pertain to participation on this forum overall and Congregational boards in particular. All derived from the platform of Christian charity.

Flaming and Goading
Please treat all members with respect and courtesy through civil dialogue.
Do not personally attack other members or groups of members on CF. Address only the content of the post and not the poster.
NO Goading. This includes images, cartoons, or smileys clearly meant to goad.
Stating or implying that another Christian member, or group of members, are not Christian is not allowed.
If you are flamed, do not respond in-kind. Alert staff to the situation by utilizing the report button.

Harassment
Be considerate and do not make another member's experience on this site miserable. This includes making false accusations or persistently attacking them in the open forums.

Congregational Forum Restrictions
Members who do not truly share the core beliefs and teachings of a specific congregational forum may post in fellowship or ask questions, but they may not teach or debate within the forum.

*Shared in brief so as to make the point. If you don't appreciate Bob's denominational affiliation, don't goad Bob or insult his denominational affiliation. Participation on this particular board is to glean an education and fellowship within the framework of Traditional Adventism.
If you can't not debate, per the rules, just go somewhere else and prove you can obey the rules.

God Bless you Bob. And most certainly that of your patience with what you've endured.

I appreciate all the effort you put into your posts Bob. I might not agree with all of what you promote, but it seems like you are teaching righteousness by faith, which to me is all that really matters. The disciples didn't agree 100% on every doctrinal issue, just the ones that mattered like salvation. They knew what it meant to be saved, and that is what needs to be promoted in all our comments.
