• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I feel like this is an important topic and not just because I have both Dyslexia and ADD.
Its also because I feel like in general some schools just don't do what they need to to help those who have it.

So I wanted to make this thread as an area where people can support those who have it or parents who have children who are struggling with it.

Though I think its not really a General Struggle this is the place I was told I can post this. To some this is more then a general struggle and can be very serious and make life harder then it needs to be.

I totaly know what you meen, the amount of times when I have written something seriously and ernestly but then someone comes along and puts me down just because my spelling isnt up to scratch.... Its fustrating that I have to put up with it but I know at the end of the day it's just the internet and its not going to hurt me, its not going to drag my soul to hell, my poor spelling is part of who I am.

My biggest problem in life is when people you know in real life put you down because of it, for example, my partner dosnt believe in dyslexia. He dosnt believe its a real thing because there is a country that has 0% dyslexics. He dosnt believe its real because I come off as a normal person but when it comes to writing I use my dyslexia as an excuse for my spelling. What he dosnt understand is that I can spell fine, its just when I come to writeing things down I miss spell things and make silly mistakes without realising it. When I come to edit my work I cant see the mistakes I have made, to me it seems completly fine. When I look at something someone else has written I can see mistakes though, and sometimes when I read things I read a word as something else insteid of what its suppost to be. It makes me look stupid and like I dont care about my gramma but I really really do. I am always trying to get better but people just asume you make mistakes because you are dumb not dyslexic.
