Hi folks,
Any recommendations for learning basics of WOF/ Positive confession etc. Like how to go about it ? Any books maybe or websites? Been watching some youtube vids of Kenneth Hagin and E.W. Kenyon and have one of Hagins small booklets.

The problem is any time I google about it or look on YouTube I see a lot of anti- WOF sites so was wondering if there's a specific website maybe with some lessons
Thanks
Peter

I would recommend being established in the fundamental Christian doctrines first. I grew up Baptist and was saved at the age of eight, and then spent six years in an Assembly of God church where I received the baptism in the Holy Spirit. That grounded me in the gospel message and Pentecostal theology. Many WoF teachers have made a mess of teaching faith because they had a weak foundation. When I was at Rhema we were given a copy of P. C. Nelson's book "Bible Doctrines". I would start there. While I was attending that AG church a friend loaned me his copy of Kenneth Hagin's book "Exceedingly Growing Faith". I think that's a great book to start with as far as the WoF goes. As for the anti-WoF stuff, I have produced many videos and written extensively in defense of WoF teaching. You can see my work at my blog "Jew and Greek".

If you are watching Hagin you are doing well.
I started with Hagin books in 1973 with "I believe in visions."
I bought my first set of E.W. books in 1977... never been the same since.

My first set of teaching on the Faith was a set of book by Derek Prince called "Foundational Truths." It is not as WoF as our WOF teachers are, but it is a good solid study on the basics as listed in Heb 6:1. Derek did finally come around to faith principles.
It was 7 booklets back in the early 70s, but is has been consolidated into one:

I second this book with high thumbs up.

I have an earlier copy under the title "The Spirit-Filled Believer's Handbook." This is one of the best foundational teaching books that I have ever read, and in fact continue to read it weekly. It sits on my reading table and can't seem to collect any dust.

I have been reading this book the past few days. I am on page 46. The book is jammed packed with valuable information in these first few pages. Derick Prince is a good writer with many Scriptures and examples. This book is well worth reading. I look forward to reading a few pages at a time. I won't race through it.

Yes.. Derek jams as many scriptures into his material as he can. He was qualified to teach Greek on a college level. He was educated as a scholar of Greek and Latin at Eton College and Cambridge University in England and he held a Fellowship in Ancient and Modern Philosophy at King’s College. He was the first Charismatic teacher I went to see. Pittsburgh Seminary in 1972. We miss him greatly. The wife and I watch his teachings several times a week. If you want to hitch your cart to a winner, contribute to his ministry. Lord thank you for DP.

The Bible is the best book, but you got to get someone to teach you what it means. I was blessed to have a pastor who came from the WoF movement, who would instruct me during Bible studies.

You also have to be baptized in the Holy Ghost. I think this is where most people screw up the Bible. I have met a lot of Christians who know a lot about scripture, but their interpretations get all twisted because they don't have the Holy Spirit interceding for their interpretation of scripture, because they don't believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit enabling the understanding of scripture, a person just ends up with doctrine that has swaths of unbelief.

When the scripture says I get more wisdom than Solomon, I just believe it. I don't try to fit it into the context of what some theologian says. Who has more wisdom? Solomon or the Spirit of God himself? God's spirit which indwells me and is upon me. I don't think most Christians would believe it unless they're actually wrapped up in God's spirit and authority. It would just be too far beyond where they are at, since they've not done the basics like miraculous healing.

Also, be careful, I think the WoF movement has derailed in some areas and it's hard to sort out where because they are pretty close to the truth. It's that 2 degrees they get off which is difficult because it's hard to spot unless you've walked it yourself and done better where others failed.

Take a quote from the Rhema Bible College... "The anointing is not taught but caught." It's a funny little quote, but perhaps the 2 degrees off. Special anointing manifestations are real, but why bother chasing after them? I got an anointing from God I don't feel and it's great because I don't have to feel it whereby my faith is gone should I not feel it. It's a powerful anointing, which can raise the dead, and healing and prosperity follows in its wake. I never caught the thing except from God's word taught and preached. I didn't go to a Kenneth Hagin meeting and get it. I didn't even get it by the laying on of hands. I got it like Cornelius in acts got it, someone preached the word to me.... so it was certainly taught and not caught.

Well there are always lots of books you can buy.. nothing wrong with that. What do you believe? God.. Jesus.. are REAL! So many of us say the words but do not believe. Just be like a kid.. pick up the bible.. Matt-John..where ever you want to start.. ask Him to open your eyes.. to just talk to you. Understand there is no ONE group out there that has it all the 100% gospel. Word Of Faith.. is just ONE piece..one part of ONE body. Its not hard.. KNOW HE IS REAL! Dont go by how you feel.. meaning.. if anyone believes Jesuss words.. believe in Him.. you are saved. Matters not how you feel think see or hear. If GOD said it.. you NEVER have to question it. He cant lie. So if YOU seek? You will 100% FIND HIM.. really He finds you.. that desire came from HIM! Yeah.. all this WANTING HIM? Its HIM His sweet sweet spirit pulling you. Always make sure what anyone says.. is written. What GOD does for one.. He will can to for ALL! So when things just seem to JUMP off the page at you.. thats Him.

Its not how many times you quote some verse. This most likely wont mean anything to you but.. to be blind at 1st..helps. Some of the greatest things that happen in my life with my Father.. haha I look back and.. WOW I had no clue what I was doing.. was not thinking at all. Just went. Anyway. Books do help.. but your reading HIS word...man.. if just ONE of us new what we are who we are and WHOS we are. Like a very wonderful wise woman once said.. God is still looking for the one.. maybe its YOU! .. you can find good youtube videos on Hagin.. just know they were human like every one else. They had that hunger you have and KNOW THIS! What GOD has started in you this day ..HE WILL FINISH IT!.. HE does not will not quit.. so hold on.. its a AWESOME ride? Well.. who got off yet? hehe

Well said, but you give us (WOF) only 2 degrees of possible derailment in some areas? Hmm... Just 2 degrees off from being perfect in our teaching. That would be very complementary if it were true. Many of our critics call it pure heresy from beginning to end. I guess I will be the first to tell you that Word-of-Faith teaching is slightly off more than what you are suggesting (same as any movement). I am 100% Word-of-Faith but in the "overall" teachings of the movement over the years there is slightly more than 2 degrees I totally disagree with.
Just "slightly" though...

Why would you listen to a critic?

I can criticize anyone for anything, I was a master at it. Then I realized it was the spirit of satan using me to operate through me.

Critical analysis and criticism itself is from the devil. A critic proves himself wrong by yielding to the spirit of satan to criticize.

One of our greatest teachers in Word of Faith was Kenneth E Hagin, he said : qoute Well I don't go around trying to talk to a demon that is possessing someone.
I cast them out in Jesus name, what good would talking to them do ? The devil is a liar anyway!

Why would you listen to a critic?

Why do I listen to critics? Because there are two sides to every coin. Each side is very different and could be completely opposite to each other. I listen to both sides of an argument, a discussion, or debate, and eventually choose which one is more inline to the knowledge of what I believe the Word of God is teaching me when reaching a decision about what is truth.

Sometimes the critics can be the best teachers. You will either change your mind, or be reinforced in confidence in what you have already believed. And there are those that hear just one side of the coin

Sometime the word critic simply means to critique. Evaluate and weigh all the evidence. Come to a conclusion.
When referring to the will of God, Paul said to do this in Romans 12:22

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Lord transformed Saul into paul. So cud we share about Jesus' love to critics?
