There have been more wars fought over the Holy Land than any other geographical location in the whole of the Earth for thousands of years.Today Jerusalem is a cup of trembling for the whole world. The Temple Mount is the most valued piece of real estate for three major religions. My question is why? Why is our Father and Satan so interested in this piece if property? The final battle will be fought there. I think it has more significance than we have thought of. All scholarship is welcome, and let us please keep it civil.

That's a diversion orchestrated by the devil to direct our attention away from where the final battle would really be fought - in our mind.

The final battleground is control of our mind. The Truth will set you free.

The end time events you speak of are a fable created by dispensationalists.

I am not a dispenstationalist. The end times are in the bible. In the bible, the little horn will commit the act of the Transgresson of Desolation, in Daniel 8, and stop the daily sacrifice. Where is the daily sacrifice made?

Daniel 8:
11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
.................................
..............................
17 So he came near where I stood: and when he came, I was afraid, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man: for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

Yes, but men have fought many wars throughout history. Look at how many wars America has fought.

Today Jerusalem is a cup of trembling for the whole world.

Not really. Things seem fairly peaceable there recently. Of coarse there is the occasional bombing but those are happening everywhere that Muslims live.

The Temple Mount is the most valued piece of real estate for three major religions.

There are many valuable pieces of real estate in the world.

I don't consider the Temple Mount to be a more significant piece of real estate then say the US Capitol or Buckingham Palace.

My question is why? Why is our Father and Satan so interested in this piece if property?

They're not.

The final battle will be fought there.

No it won't. Where are you getting this idea from. There is nothing in scripture to suggest that.

I think it has more significance than we have thought of.

Not really. The Temple Mount is of no significant importance at this time. It was important in Biblical times when the Jewish Temple stood there but those days are over.

Zechariah 14.

Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee.

2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

Many bible commentators agree that it was fulfilled when Antiochus Epiphanes desecrated the temple.

Jerusalem is significant because God declared it so. He chose it.

When God tested Abraham (Genesis 22), asking him to sacrifice his "only son" Isaac (recall he was also the father of Ishmael, but Isaac was the only son of promise), He led him to Moriah. God provided a ram as a substitute for Isaac. Abraham called the place, "The LORD will provide" and it was said, "On the mountain of the LORD, it will be provided."

Mt. Moriah was where Jerusalem was built.

It was on Mt. Moriah that the blood of the only begotten Son, the Lamb of God, was shed to take away the sin of the world.

In Psalms 2, God declares in past tense that He has installed His King on His holy hill in Zion.

In a similar way, we have significance because God declared it. He sealed it with His blood to show how much He cares.

Now back to the topic.Eden, the Garden of God, imho has not been forgotten. We know by the scriptures that our Father placed the first Adam in the midst of the Garden and walked with him there in the cool of the day. We also know that Lucifer was there. So this struggle has been ongoing for a long time.

Thanks, Great map! Yes we know that Jesus is the rightful heir to David's throne, but consider the land, and why this land. I agree with what you say about the Earthquake and the plates being raised. But do you have any idea of the dimensions of the Eurasian plate? The reason I am asking is this. There is prophecy that says the land will be raised.
Isa.2:1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
That is how plate plate tectonics works, as the plates crash into each other one goes down under the other and pushes it up. That is why we have mountains. That is why we find shells from what was ocean on the top of mountains.

God's plan for mankind, and this Earth is still in play imho and my theory. If we look at the way the story unfolds, we see our Father placing the first man in the midst of the Garden, then we see Abraham being led to the land of Canaan, then to the Mt. Moriah to sacrifice Isaac, then we see Israel established in the land and the Temple of Solomon built on on Mt. Moriah. Then we see Lord Jesus born in Bethlehem and killed on Calvary. He ascended from the Mt. of Olives and will return to the Mt. of Olives. Our Father's purpose for the land imho is still in play, but Satan fights to try to stop that purpose. Can't you all see it.Just THINK about it.

David's throne exists forever through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ's throne is at the right hand of God where he intercedes for the church.

That has nothing to do with the Temple Mount or a rebuilt 3rd Temple. The temple is the body of Christ.
What about the temple that we read about in Ezekiel?

WOW! I see it!This is what I see from the pic with the "X". I see not a box, but a pyramid shaped mountain,in the very center of the Earth with the dimensions of equal distance.

Yeah, the one with the river flowing out of it to the east, healing the Dead Sea? :)
When Jesus returns:

Zechariah
14:4
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

14:8 And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be.

Acts 1:11
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
1:12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey *.

I don't think that one will fit until after the land has been raised. What do you all think?
It is a prophecy for the 1,000 year reign of Christ. After the battle of Armageddon. For 1,000 years people will go to see where the great battle was fought.

Isa 66:24
And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

Interesting that you mention Abraham because one of the "third day" scriptures has to do with him. I wonder what the donkey represents.

Gen22 4On the third day Abraham raised his eyes and saw the place from a distance. 5Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey, and I and the lad will go over there; and we will worship and return to you."…

I have no idea about the donkey, other than it was left with the servants.

Of course, Satan is prideful and haughty. During the rebellion, When he fell, it was his intent To ascend above the Most High. To make himself like God and to be worshipped like God.

Isaiah 11:12-14

12“How you have fallen from heaven,
O star of the morning, son of the dawn!
You have been cut down to the earth,
You who have weakened the nations!

13“But you said in your heart,
‘I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne above the stars of God,
And I will sit on the mount of assembly
In the recesses of the north.

14‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.’

It's hard for me to understand the nature of Satan. It seems to me that he is well aware of his inevitable demise. It seems that he would surely know that he can not stand against the Lord of Heavens Armies. Yet, because of his nature he continues on, into his destruction.

There are several scriptures which state that God chooses to put His name in Jerusalem here are a few. Also, that God has chosen Jerusalem. Well, if God has chosen Jerusalem, guess what Satan has to try and get a hold of? Jerusalem, of course!

Zechariah 3:2

2The LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”

2 Chronicles 6:6

6but I have chosen Jerusalem that My name might be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’

2 Kings 21:4

4He built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORDhad said, “In Jerusalem I will put My name.”

1 Kings 8:29

29that Your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, toward the place of which You have said, ‘My name shall be there,’ to listen to the prayer which Your servant shall pray toward this place.

Ezra 6:12

12May the God who has caused His name to dwell there overthrow any king or people who attempts to change it,

So, because God several times in His word clearly states He has chosen Jerusalem. Of course, the devil also tries to be like God. He too, will try to put his name there.

Now some of these scriptures are others quoting what the Lord has said (i.e. Darius in Ezra 6). However, the point is, the Lord has chosen Jerusalem. Also, to put His name there. So Satan tries to mimic God and claim Jerusalem. Of course, the devil, full of envy and pride, filled with a nature most of us can't understand...continues on, despite the fact he will meet his destruction. I would imagine that having been in the immediate presence of the Almighty, surely he knows he doesn't stand a chance in succeeding. Yet, he continues on, soon to meet his demise.

I have to agree that the physical Israel doesn't matter. We must interpret scripture as a whole; taking isolated sections from the OT without looking through the lens of Jesus is fruitless. Above all, let's remember 2 Cor 1:20 - All God's promises find their YES in Christ.

He is the fulfilment of the OT. Through His blood the Old Covenant is gone; the New Covenant is here. Let's not live in the past!

We are discussing the land, not the covenants. Even though people refer to the covenants, that is not what the thread is about. Go all the way back to Eden.God placed the first man in the midst of the Garden of Eden. Try to open your mind about the land, please. It belonged to God long before the covenant with Abraham.
