Mine Vigil was beautiful. Each time I am impressed by the beauty of the liturgical chants of Easter. Joyful & of a great profundity.
However it was quite strange, to sing God's love and our joy while some armed soldiers were patroling around the Cathedral to prevent any attack. Really, our world is changing and not in good.
Anyway it was a beautiful Vigil and HAPPY EASTER everyone!

Alleluia He is risen, Alleluia !

I'm happy to hear that you had a beautiful experience at the Vigil.
Armed guards outside the cathedral? Really?

It's sad how things are developing these days, it really is :(

At least we shall not fear because Christ is Risen on this day!
We shall never perish dearest sister.

Happy easter to you and yours dear thehehe, God bless.

People either dress formal or a nice casual. A pair of nice pants and a nice shirt would be ok.
agreed. i saw both at our mass, with one young man sporting a jaunty bow tie, and others in clean Tshirts and jeans.
my daughter came in a sparkly Tshirt, jeans, and flowing red hair, while i sported a plain classical long slieved full length slate blue sheath with mock turtle neckline, black ballerina flats, and a matching string of gunmetal grey beads.

our mass was so beautiful! we had young servers--the oldest of whom was about 12 years old, but they did a beautiful job.
the best part was that their leader was also robed, and was right there serving alongside of them to give them confidence.
The service was wonderful, with the choir in the heavenlies (balcony), our cantor doing an exceptional job with the liturgy.
the seven scripture readings set forth with the light of the Pascal candle into a darkened church helped to emphasize the darkness of man's 'wisdom' when compared in each instance to the light of God and Christ.

Without a doubt the most impressive service yet!

I went to vigil last night with some coworkers. It was very nice, first time I've done the processing in from outside part of it. All the other Easter vigils I've attended lacked the procession. We had a lot of people getting baptized and confirmed. Maybe 20-30.

After that, I went to Taco Bell and drank some Summer Shandy at home.

Sounds nice! We have always done the procession.

Excuse me - we really don't want to hear about your young Servers - we want to hear about YOUR feelings as you were Received , Confirmed and Communed for the first time

my initial feeling is that everything was put into perspective, just as it should be.........and I was a very small part of the whole, definitely not the star of the show that you would have me to be.
and I'm comfortable with that.

Upon further reflection, what impresssed me most about the liturgy itself was it's construct in the three parts to show not only the history of the relationship between God and man, but also how the Church takes that historical relationship and renders it completely viable for modern times as well as ancient.

Thanks for sharing pdudgeon. I'm always interested in what's going on in other peoples parish's. Especially now that I'm feeling so distant from my own. Welcome home!
