I was browsing through our local Christian bookstore, and I found this book that talks about how Saddam is rebuilding the age old city of Babylon. Personally, I'm tired of all the end-times propaganda. However, this somewhat sparked my interest considering the currect problem with Iraq, and the fact that, he is indeed, rebuilding the Babylonian ruins.

Thoughts?

I've seen that very book. The one with pictures of the rebuilding of Nebuchadnezzar's fortress and Saddam's palace? He thinks he's the reincarnation of Nebuchadnezzar and I think he'll be grazing in the pasture just like him very soon. :)

People don't realize how bent this man is on completely destroying Israel. He wants to duplicate what Nebuchadnezzar did and that's be the only person to destroy the great nation of Israel and he wants to repeat what Neb. did.

Funny, JesusServant regarding Saddam's grazing prophecy! :)

Saddam has been building the historic Bablyon for sometime from what I remember and keeps getting distracted, now I wonder why? ;)

BUT the LORD GOD has decreed it never to be rebuilt (tho' Saddam may try, but who is he against the LORD GOD?). I will show you the verses that it is so in Jer. 51:61-64:

"And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;

Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, [that] thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

And thou shalt say, Thus shall Babylon sink, and shall not rise from the evil that I will bring upon her: and they shall be weary. Thus far [are] the words of Jeremiah."

Looks like Saddam is to busy playing a shell game with Mr. Bush to worry about his version of Bablyon and he didn't read the Hebrew Scriptures regarding his Bablyon. LOL

I wouldn't worry too much about the city of Bablyon being rebuilt, the LORD GOD has got Saddam by the nose. LOL

It is the same scenerio in Jerusalem regarding the east gate to the city, there have been some who have tried to reopen it, but it is the LORD GOD who shut it and it will be the Messiah who will reopen it.  The last time the east gate to the City of David was to be open was the day the 6 day war began.  Interesting facts....

ladylove, I'm glad you enjoyed my joke. :D

Some believe that the prophecy you referred to has not yet been fulfilled.  Notice that it says, "none shall remain in it neither man nor beast".  Man still lives there and so does beast.  But ask yourself this... what if a nuke or chemical weapons were used in that area.  No one would live and no one would be able to go there for a long time possibly until the end of the age.  Something to consider anyways...  I would not at all be suprised if we don't attack and it is a more drawn out war with Iraq this time and Saddam, when facing the loss and his own death or upheaval, that he will nuke or unleash chemicals on his own country.  He seems like the, "If I can't have it, no one will" kind of a guy to me.

Are we truly "sure" that the current version of Bablyon where Saddam is attempting his folly, is in fact, the geninune historic site of Bablyon in all her former glory?  I wonder. I am not so sure that it is, JesusServant.  But I won't swear to it either way.  God's Word will not return void to Him.  (Isa. 55:11)  He said it, not me. :D

I think you may be right about a protracted war this time around with the "Butcher of Bagdad."  Bush elder's admn didn't have the stomach to do what needed to be done, but his son is another story.  Thank God!  I am sure either Saddam will somehow escape at the 11th hour like UBL or go down in his delusionary state of "glory" if he has no other way out.  Either way the job MUST be done, IMO.  It may indeed be "messier" this time around, but this time better be the last.  Evil abounds when good men do nothing.  I don't understand why France is throwing "fits" about this, heck, it's only money. :rolls eyes:
